As a Honda CB650R owner, I jumped at the opportunity to test the CB1000R and shared my thoughts about it in this video in general and also in comparison to my own CB650R.
Find out what I think the CB1000R does well and doesn't do well in this video as I explain the experience of riding the bike for the first time ever.
Thanks to Alex and Honda Big Wing Setapak for letting me test this awesome bike!

I have the CB1000R with akrapovic. The more you ride it, the more you appreciate it compared to a lot of different bikes. It's a bit of a beast, but gentle.

Those are the exact words “a beast, but gentle”. It makes you feel comfortable but gives you so much performance. I’d love one but it’s a bit expensive for me and I have no discipline on a 1000cc for now haha.

Hey buddy thanks for your comment yea I'm not setting a good example really but I'm one of the tame ones on these roads to be honest. There are some real nutters out there out on the regular. I like your choice of upgrade, if you have the means for it go for the CB1000R especially the 2021 its a quality bike but you need to be disciplined cos its really easy to go fast as you can see. The Z900RS is also another nice one if you prefer real classic lines on a bike that has pretty serious performance. I've never ridden it but I have a friend who rides a regular Z900, its FAST!

very good review. I plan to buy my dreambike in 2 months and i am hesitating between honda cb650r and triumph trident. It is so hard to make a decision but my heart pulls to the honda a little bit more. I would see a comparison between these two bikes. I think 1000 cc bike is for people who don`t have to worry about money because it is too much for the roads and streets but people are just attracted to power that is why it is so tempting to have one of those. Wide road to you all!

Thanks for the comment! Ahh I can imagine my buying decision would be difficult if the trident came out earlier. I rode the street triple and really liked the triple engine I wanted the S but I didn’t like how it looks and maintenance cost is more. Trident seems to have fixed all that. Yea the 1000 is expensive. The thought of it being an upgrade for me is still in my mind until now I like the single swing arm and the machined aluminium details. altho I don’t think that extra power is good for me 😂

If you can find someone to adjust your ECU (emissions control unit) to unlock the speed contol and improve fueling, change the exhaust and replace you brake cables with steel braided and replace your for suspension with adjustable cartridges you can easily have a moto just as good as the CB1000r for far less money. There’s no power modes on the cb650r unfortunately. It’s all in the wrist. But it’s really an easy bike to handle the throttle is new rider friendly. If you give it too much and lose traction the torque control will cut some power as a safety measure.

Wow, the 650 is expensive there, specially taking into account that it is made right there. In Spain I paid 9100 Eur (9500 USD) for the bike, taxes, Honda Plus (loaner bike for services, GPS tracker, etc), the short wind deflector, the quickshifter and 1 year insurance. Base price is 8200 Eur. The CB1000R is 14.200 EUR, around 15.000 USD

Probably helps if you lean but if you shock it enough it will still lift being a 1000cc bike. I’ve never successfully power wheelied a bike before, I suspect there’s an anti-wheelie mechanism in my wrist, it just refuses to turn the throttle quick enough.

I went from the cb650r to the cb1000r. What to expect: the same bike with more power. Pros and cons. Cb650r pros: maintenance costs, parts and tax cheaper. Fuel efficiency. High quality paintwork. Cb650r cons: vibrations in the bars at high rpm. Power dip in the mid range. Seat not so comfy for long distance. Metal fixings and clips not treated and prone to rust quickly. Cb1000r pros : comfier seat. No power dip. Adjustable suspension and power settings. Adjustable gear/ fuel indicator. No vibration. The same nimble beginner friendly feel as the 650r. Sharp brakes. Cb1000r cons: higher insurance, tax, maintenance costs and parts. Poor quality paint on the wheels (flaking is a common issue).

I personally would like to see the power bumped on the 1000 to compete with other hypernakeds, closer to 160-170 HP. And I think the 650 should be bumped to a 750. It already doesn’t compete with other 650’s price wise, and has 20 more horsepower. But the bikes it competes with price wise are much more powerful. Mt-09, z900, and such. A bump to 750 but keeping the same price point would put it right in line with other big middleweight bikes power and price wise. Plus the old cb750 is iconic. A modern version would be a dream bike 😍

Yes I had a thought about the 650 being bumped to 750 for later model. I agree 110hp would be perfect to be closer with the MT09, Z900 and Street triple. They can bump the price a little it’s a Honda it will last forever and the build quality is probably better. @@jamesjensen4696 I agree with this. But I still feel the bump in displacement is justifiable. A little more power “specifically torque” would be appreciated. And would help it’s sales even more. Why do people pick other 650’s over the Honda? Similar power but much cheaper. Why do people pick othe 750-900’s? Same price but more power. If Honda would bump it up to 750cc. Get the Hp to 105-110. And torque to 55+lbs of torque. It would be an all around better bike than other middle weights with the same amount of power, and people would buy them like crazy. Got the 650 for my first bike as well. While the bike is very easy to be ridden and they maneuver really well, unless you got good self control and doesnt get carried away easily then this is bike is kind of too powerful. If given the choice,i'd get a cheap 250/300 to learn and master on before getting on this bike.

@@RUBBERNMETAL here in Mexico that bike is 13.7k USD is it that expensive there just bc of taxes?
@RUBBERNMETAL
@RUBBERNMETAL 3 жыл бұрын
@@2dollarkevin that’s a good price in Mexico, I would definitely consider. Yea the taxes here is not equal. Some bikes are priced reasonably because of where they’re assembled like the CB650R is made in Thailand (ASEAN region) so it’s not that expensive. Thankfully there’s an increasing number of bikes that are manufactured in Thailand nowadays like some Triumph, BMW, Ducati, Harley, Kawasaki, Honda models. The CB1000R is manufactured in Japan so it gets heavily taxed when it gets here. I also found out recently that the Royal Enfield continental GT 650 is more than double its price here compared to in India, ridiculous. What do you ride bro?

@@2dollarkevin that’s cool you have enough power to have fun on a 400, I started on a CBR500R and lasted me 4 years. I understand the want to upgrade the whole time. A nice set of sticky tires will make it fun if you haven’t changed tires yet.

Cb1000R is not a hypernaked? Omg....with all respect, dedicate yourself to something else brother.
@RUBBERNMETAL
@RUBBERNMETAL 3 жыл бұрын
In 2020 standards (when this video was shot) with 200hp naked bikes available definitely not a hyper naked. I’ve ridden smaller engine bikes with more kick, more high strung and more precision. Hey that’s my opinion tho you can have yours too. Btw what’s wrong with it not being a hyper naked? That’s a good thing. I prefer it that way.
@Universe123
@Universe123 3 жыл бұрын
@@RUBBERNMETAL Horsepower does not define a hypernaked, it is define by its power delivery, its torque. Where does it says that a hypernaked has to have more than 200 horsepower? The cb1000r has more acceleration than its sister rr the fireblade in first, second and third gear, and we are talking about a bike that has 218 horsepower. You see, the entire yamaha mt line is considered hypernaked....all of them.. from mt07 to mt10. Check it. Sincerely.
