Funny, two years ago I was looking at a RC51 and a CBR900rr. Went with the RC51 for that nasty snarl and the pop from the blow back. Two years later and here I am looking for that CBR900rr.

@@mr.bidnessman2469 Having both bikes (lucky me!), the Blade is a much better bet as an everyday bike. The riding position is probably more sports tourer than the arse in the air track-biased sports stuff nowadays, and if you're the right size, say under 5'9", it's pretty comfy on long trips. Decent tank range, cavernous under seat storage, not bad pillion perch, too. Time has diluted its cutting edge sportsbike reputation of old, naturally. The RC51 is a different beast, as you'll well know. It's a great, great bike, but very committed riding and even with a Power Commander it is a bit snatchy at lower revs, borderline unrideable around town without. That woeful tank range, too, means it's Sunday riding, reliving-the-hero-days stuff. At nearly 50 now I find I need chiropractic treatment after a long ride on it. Back in the day I did a trip to London from Manchester and back in a day filtering for large parts through static M6 traffic... with seemingly endless fuel stops, but I was 30 or so back then.... good old days!

I got a 96 as my first bike 5 years ago. Mine has: Manual cam chain tenstioner, cause they do go out on these bikes, mine did. sc50 brake calipers + master cylinder + kevlar brake lines + sintered pads allround, great stopping power.(original calipers are good enough when you get good lines and sintered pads) 44mm quick action throttle from active, original gas throw is to long with quick throttle it's very easy to open her up when you're ready. Raised forks 5mm through the triples, makes it very easy to turn in even at speed. Zero gravity double bubble. Raised footpegs for ground clearance. Nikko racing exhuast. Rear hugger. Shorty levers from china(cause they were $20 and im cheap lol) Weak points on these bikes are: Regulator/rectifiers+ stator can go fail- wich is quite expensive if the rectifier is still a flat one without fins replace it with a newer one. Stator to rectifier connectors are prone to corrosion and shorting causing a small fire under the seat and molten connectors. If the cam chain tensioner is ticking ,replace it cause the spring mechanism will fail eventually, mine did and i was lucky to not grenade the engine. Rear shock is good but on higher mileage bikes they might have failed( turn preload down all the way and check if the hydraulics still do anything) Wheel bearings (30k miles+-) Thats about it they will launch you to 60mph in 3.2 secs and accelarate nicely to 150mph then crawl to a 162mph top. Like i said it's my first bike and i still have her and give her everything she needs i go hard on this bike and the engine and transmission will last for ever if you treat it with mechanical sympathy(let her warm up and don't force the transmission to do things it doesnt want to) I go hard on my bike and have done since day one but she burns no oil and still shits well like the day i got her. When she finally dies i will hang her on my wall. The only downsides of getting this bike is losing my license and some speeding tickets wich i would have prefered to have spend on rear tire cause they barely last 2500 miles O__o (s22's great tire) Also they are getting more rare and people love seeing them.

I love these older bikes so much. It feels so immersive, you can smell, feel and hear so much of the bike. I never owned a bike with ABS myself and with training i am comfortable to say i would only like to have it in wet conditions. Other than that, no riding assists at all just feels so different! My first one was a 2000 KTM 640 LC4 and learning to ride on a Supermoto without assists has helped me develop my riding skills better than having a lot of electronics. I managed to get through quite a lot of dangerous situations without putting the bike down. Currently i own a 2008 Buell XB12, amazing feeling bike for sure! Was looking for a CBR900RR as a "cheap" second bike lately.

Тhe only thing it "misses" from modern bikes may be ABS :) But older riders don`t really need it anyway :) And the engine sound, ahhhh, beauty.

I honestly prefer this bike, over the current generation. To me, they look much, much better. Modern bike have more computing power than the Saturn 5... I prefer the analogic feel of a motorcycle (no driving aids). 👍🇵🇹

@@ericwong1567 ,unfortunately (in my opinion) motorcycles are following the automotive trend. They are loading these new superbikes with so much electronics (that's why Honda is asking 28.000 dollars for the 2022 cbr1000rr) that in the near future, it will take a technician, with master degree in electronics to diagnose it. Obviously the cost of maintenance will skyrocket. Owners won't be able to do anything on their bikes. These bikes are getting a Rich man toy. Ordinary folks (I can only imagine the price tag of this bike over here (Portugal) , were bike above 750cc are taxed as a luxury item) like me, can't afford these bikes. And that's why, I'm gonna keep my 91 Gsx-R 750, as long as I can. I'm no Rossi, so, plenty of power for me...

I had the 927 rrx 1999. For 5 years. 16 inch front wheel. The thing it has no torque to 60mph. From 60mph to 140 or 167 you use it like a 2 stroke. Its fun. Never mind tootling about.

Trying to track the road @ 3:00 minutes in had me convinced I really was getting old. A younger me loved riding at night, the eyes don't adjust to changes anywhere near fast enough for comfort nowadays. Thanks for the review, still a very modern bike to my mind, ah well, perception is everything

I got a 92 that’s converted to a naked bike with an exhaust (I’ve yet to replace) that is so extremely loud with bangs and flames and the whole thing. Paid 1500 bucks for it and with 70k km it rides basically new

1996 rider here with tens of thousands of computer miles on an engine with just oil changes.NEVER adjusted the valves! The odometer was broke the day I got it. Drove it daily for 13 years.

They were so easy to ride fast, and last rode one about 2 yrs ago, still a great ride and still very quick by any standards. 16in wheel turn in, still surprises though haha.

Although not my main bike I still try and regularly ride my 1995 Daytona 1200, got to keep the petrol flowing through those carbs! Even though I have raised the bars the forward lean provides for a little bit of traction for my poor old back, plus you can cancel your gym membership lifting that lug around. Lack of all electronic aids really focus the mind on the road and the conditions as I'm sure it did on the CBR.

Bought one a week ago from a colleague. Sitting in his garage for a couple of years. 35000 km on the clock 😲. It is the tiger version which i find the best colour. Needs some maintenance but runs and rides great. Storage under the backseat aswell . That's rare now these days . Ride a nc also

Agree with everything except seating position/wrist pain you mention. I came off a daytona 675R. Very aggressive riding position as with most sport bikes. Honda generally have higher clip ons.

Everything is correct here except for the price. You'll struggle to find a 92-95 fireblade in good condition in Australia for under 11k because they are becoming rare. The later models are actually cheaper..

Nice video and channel, looking for information on a 1996 Fireblade for sale, it's the next model but I think the comfort is comparable and acceptable for tall people. Own a Honda 1995 VFR 750 and 1996 Blackbird, curious how these compare to a 1996 Fireblade.

I tell you how it compares to modern bikes - IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE OVERDESIGNED CRAP! The late 90s Bikes were the most beautiful. The GSX-R SRAD (oh Boy was that a beauty) The ZX7-R and this one....all of these bikes had GREAT designs. I hate modern bikes, they are ugly as hell.
