This man travels 3 km in 43 seconds. That means IF he could keep this speed, IF there were no stoplights, refueling & rest...etc, he could go from Montreal, Canada to New York, USA in 2.5 hours. But then, IF we would give him an even better case, by not adding in the 15 seconds acceleration from 0 to 300, it would only take him exactly 2 hours.

That's because the speedometer runs 5 percent quicker than the real rear wheel speed. Another 5 percent come from wheel spin at these velocities, so approx. 10 percent difference. My 2000 Hayabusa's speedo showed around 335 kph when GPS on my Garmin GPS-receiver said 304 kph. A year later, in 2001, they banned speedometers which could show speeds bigger than 299.

You can also learn to shift without the clutch, which is how everyone did it before quick shifters. Most bikes have dog boxes.

A quick shifter simply makes the process easier by cutting power momentarily to unload the gearbox enough to switch gears. Before quick shifters became common, the same could be accomplished by simply snapping the throttle forward quickly while simultaneously applying pressure to the gear shifter.
