Honda CD200 Benly Resto - Introducing a new project

Part 1 - Tough times globally means extra time to spend in the shed. This is a little introduction to a project that's been waiting under a cover for a little while. Hopefully I'll find enough time and money to see it through.

They truly are a great motorbike. My wife and I have one each, hers being a 6v 1980 model, and mine a 12v 1982 model. Did over 150000 miles on my earlier 6v one. Change the oil every 1000 miles, and look after it. It will do you proud. Apparently there are less than 100 registered in the UK.

I have just completed one myself, a 1982 12v version. I bought it in similar condition to yours about 4 years ago having been stood since 2012. The left side of the engine was smoking blue oil on it to so I changed the valve seals and gave it a good blast round which cured it. Great bike around town. £44 a year road tax.

This is great Simon. Good luck with the project. I’ve just dug my Benly out of the back of the garage and then found your videos. Mine hasn’t run for around 20 years. Not sure where to start. I’ve seen some videos of mustie1 breathing life into old bikes, the closest to the CD200 he does is a CB350. Looking forward to following the story.

Ah, a full carb rebuild won't take long or cost much. It's only little.
