There was a time when people spent money to drive cars but now they are spending money for features... the 5th gen city apart from how good that vtec motor is and how nice that silk sifting gear box is everyone downplayed this legend in their reviews just to tell people just go spend 3-4lakhs more for a hippo having more features. The Honda petrol manual zx is still the value for money. Today the two legends the city and Vikrant sir complement each other really well . Sir you just did a favour on Honda ❤️

I drive the New Honda City 2020 VX MT Petrol Radiant Red. Penning down some of my observations in hope that it can help other potential buyers: 1. Pros: a. First Things First - Ground Clearance is NOT a Problem AT ALL unless one intends to go OFF the road on a trail with Large rocks and highly uneven terrain. I have driven on bad roads/ sometimes barely a road/ Large Potholes and the car hasn't touched the ground Yet. NOTE: I have driven with Max 4 People with limited Luggage in Boot. Maybe with a full trunk and max seating capacity, there could be an issue, but I think the whole GC issue is being blown Out of proportion in the New Honda City. Its totally Fine b. Driving Pleasure - Highly refined Engine, Light Clutch, Fast Gear Shifts, Highly responsive Steering. The Engine has a wonderful revving sound(Which I have read some people say is a demerit as it creates cabin noise), which keeps the driver excited. Not many gear shifts needed. Car drives beyond 80KMPH in 3rd Gear easily c. Cabin Quality - Cabin is functional and is definitely more luxurious compared to cars in the same price range. Its spacious too. d. Cost - The Models for Creta and Seltos with VSM, Hill Assist comes at 16Lakhs+. City has the same safety features from the Base Model itself. Nexon with similar Safety features is priced ~12.5 Lakhs(On Road, depending on city might vary a bit). City's price lands in the middle of current sub compact SUVs and Compact SUVs. It’s a steal if you ask me. e. Safety - ASEAN NCAAP 5 Star Rated, 6 Air Bags. 2. Cons a. No Front Parking Sensors - Being a Long Car, I feel the Front Parking sensors should have come out of the Box but I had to shell out additional 10K from the dealership to get it fitted b. Infotainment System - Gets the job done but in bright sunlight, the screen isn't clear. The Koreans have a much more intuitive and Clear screens c. Mileage - I have been getting 10-12Km/L Mileage till now having driven it on the Highway, City and Western Ghats. Being a City, I expected higher.

Unparalleled sedan. When anyone consider safety, mileage, effortless drive and whole family comfort at front & rear, there is no car above it. Even turbo is less exiting than VTEC Kick. All round visibility and good stability. Car as such is so reliable and good than even after 5 years it drives just like new car. Nobody has to think twice before purchasing Honda City.

It's a very nicely articulated review. I liked the concept of pushing the everyday car just a little bit more to understand the true nature of the car when it's put to daily use and what the drivers 'feel' . Kudos to implementing this concept. Every aspect that you have mentioned is so much relatable and for most part of the video, it felt like I am driving the city. (I wish). The thing that I don’t like about most petrol engines is the lack of low end pull compare to diesel engines. How often do we rev our cars post 4000 rpm? Way less than we would ever admit. And how good does these budget cars sound on those rpms? There are hardly any petrol car that sounds any good post 4000 rpm with great NVH under 20 lac. Petrols do make more power but diesel are all about usable power. The low end torque makes drive so so effortless and practical.

What do you think about electric power steering and hydraulic power steering in cars? Many enthusiasts swear by hydraulic power steering in terms of Feel feedback and precision . Especially the Honda city 1st gen after that it was a uncle's car all comfortable with no driving pleasure. Of course 3rd gen was a beauty , it was literally fun again . I know that I have had fun in it even when my friend was driving it in the ghats. How does the steering feedback compare with 4th gen city and skoda Rapid/VW Vento?

@@Moonlight-hq3gi Well Honda cars are engineered according to Indian driving conditions which means they have to be mix of comfort and good handling characteristics . Hence they are soft but not as soft as hyundai or maruti cars . About stability at 180 and 190kmph they are obviously not gonna feel rock solid as German cars as they are slightly light and a bit softly sprung . Only ford cars can give VW Skoda tough competition in that category. But now even they are gone out of India.

Dear Sir, Wonderful review and detailing every aspect of the car. Watched this vide many times to listen to every single detail. Bought 5th generation VX model 2020 Diwali and drove over 7k kms. Was carefully watched the video before buying. Previously used Swift VX model and drove over 1.5L kms in 12 years time. Now bit concerned with 5th generation city after recent drive experience , soft suspension giving boat like feeling especially in slow speed, at high speed riding over the white strips in the highway giving slipover feeling. Feeling like car gives left/right movement while passing small speed breaker strips placed in the highways in the junctions . Drove in the state highway had bad experience as passenger felt lot of jumping. Driving at slow speed 20 to 30 kmph gives slow boat feeling in the city and good roads. this is annoying sometimes. Also breaking as you said g-force is heavy passenger feeling that jerk/ pushing fast towards front heavily. Is there a way to fix this issue ? How to reach out to Honda cars India for feedback ? Please let me know. Thanks in advance for your kind reply. All other features are really good and liked the car , however felt these things breaking and soft suspension really bad , was thinking this is major worry as car is meant to give comfort without jerks and jumps etc. All the other things are later. Any views on this respect, please share, was thinking to sell this new car planning to look for 4th generation honda city or honda HRV ( if that comes in the price bracket). I watched your video before buying but now only felt i should have talked to you before buying. Please advice /views please. My usage is city drive ( everyday community to office ) and long drive every 3 months with family of 5. I am enthusiastic driver. upgraded from swift to honda city. Last minute decided to buy 5th generation as family liked the car. I liked skoda rapid as the car stability etc and turbo punch .

Rear anti roll bar.. could you explain more?
@vikrantsingh69164 жыл бұрын
An Anti roll bar essentially limits the difference in vertical movement of the left and right side of a car’s suspension on an axle in a corner. In the loose sense it helps pull the inside of a car closer to the ground in a corner and with it, limiting its body roll.

How do guys find such traffic free and well laid roads in India, forget city roads, even Highways I travel have lots of people, animals, wrong side vehicles, potholes etc. spoiling the fun.

We call it magic! And getting up at 3am... and be at the shoot location before the sun comes up. And then wrap things up before the traffic builds and animals get up to go do their chores!

During your review when you apply break constantly you are pressing the accelerator as well with your heal, is it something city need this or it’s your own practice ? What’s is the advantage of that action ?
@vikrantsingh69164 жыл бұрын
City doesn’t need it. It makes downshifts smoother. And if you get it right, it feels good! It’s not really necessary...
@dineshsubbiah93054 жыл бұрын
@@vikrantsingh6916 thank you, so from your view point city 2020 is capable of running for more than 15 yrs period if maintained well ? I mean how good in build quality compare to German models like vento and rapid , I am have polo 7 yrs old which still I can say I feel the same way of running on the 1st day out of showroom even today. Will city capable of such superior build quality

In response to your first question, it's called heel-toe technique and is mostly used in circuit/touge/whenever you want to take a corner at maximum speed. When you have to brake hard before entering a corner, you also want the car to be in a lower gear so that you get good acceleration when you exit the corner. But to do that without unsettling the car we have to match the rpms as well. Hence we brake hard, press the clutch to downshift and give the correct amount of gas to match the engine rpm to the lower gear. All at the same time. If you have ever ridden a bike(without a slipper clutch), you automatically do this when you click down a gear and brake at the same time,it's just the input methods are different for a car. That being said we rarely have the need to heel toe in normal driving conditions. We can just slow down, then downshift and match the revs. Heel toe is hard because you have to maintain constant brake pressure.

Like I had answered to another such question- I would never drive like this with people on board. And bother should anyone. It would make them sick. And they might throw up in the car. And ruin the car!

With your running diesel makes more sense. And between the Compass and the Seltos, we will recommend the Seltos. It has a more refined engine. It might display less than the Compass’ but it is still torquey and more efficient and it is newer too.

Steering wheel feedback. Seriously I hated it. Honda tearing wheels are one of best you can find in a Honda. Anyways.
@jeetroychoudhury18403 жыл бұрын
my take after owning it for almost 8 months now (hope new buyers check these things out) - firstly, you have to downshift for overtakes, its absolutely slow below 3500 rpm, and then pushing it in a lower gear significantly hits your mileage and you feel you are pushing the engine (therefore not effortless). secondly, the ride is not plush, its downright bouncy and you hear thuds on the smallest of pot holes, (which are otherwise not even considered potholes in India). Hit a slightly bigger pot hole, or drive it over a small bumper (the absolute small ones being placed on roads these days), and you will hear a horrifying sound from your wheels which will make you feel you just lost your axle. The tyre size is too small for the car and the ground clearance is not accustomed to Indian road conditions at all, the suspension is a gimmick. Oh! and the electronics, they are not glitch free.
