Wouldn't consider myself a Honda fanboy or even a JDM enthusiast but I absolutely love these old hatches. The way they drive when introduced to power, is unlike anything else ever made, with the apparent balance of a well engineered RWD car without losing the ability to erase any mistakes made with your right foot that you find in great FWD cars.

K24 is an amazing motor. It was very peppy, and beat most mustangs and rx8's at the time I was racing, in high school. (Most people were in v6's or older civics also) I loved that car and ended up flipping it on a backroad doing 110mph. (If you didn't know 8th gen Acuras and Hondas are built to take a hell of an impact. I literally walked out of the mangled vehicle without a scratch on my body. (I bumped my head but still)
@gestaltgaragellc.98938 жыл бұрын
Matt, I really respect that you respect a car for where it's come from to where it is. No complaints that it's not boosted or that the power numbers aren't this or that, just a good solid review of what the car does with what it has. Hondas--when built properly--are very capable even below the 200-hp mark and I'm glad you can show people the fun in that. Great review!
@JmanEspresso7 жыл бұрын
I had a 92 EJ Coupe back in the day. Basically like this, but a coupe. Black on black. Did the usual stuff to it, keeping it 100% JDM proper. Freaking loved that car man. Was so easy to work on, was never expensive when you wanted to do the next mod.. great to learn to drive manual on because the gearbox is one of the easiest(pro-tip, teach your girlfriend too). Even now, almost 20 years later, Id still love to have a 00 Civic Si and do a build. Nothing insane, just a solid little build, for a quick daily driver. Keep the B16A, but fully rebuild it and prep it for a turbo build. Id be like a kid in a candy store with a turbo'd 00 Civic Si. In Blue. With White Rota Grids. Because IDGAF how cliche and overdone that look is. I wanted it when I was 14, and I want it now!

I know Civics get a lot of hate but when you do them right they are so, so fun. I built a H22A Eg hatch and man, once you give the little beasts a bit of torque, they are fully transformed in the way they drive. That car made me a Honda fan, hard to turn my back on them now.

They get a lot of hate because of how they have to be driven to get any sort of speed out of them. Banging off the rev limiter through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd when they have anything over 270 whp makes the driver look really stupid BUT it truly is the only way to keep them accelerating hard.

@SUPERCR0WL8 жыл бұрын
4 point harnesses in general are just unsafe. Once that center belt slips off your waist and onto your stomach during a crash, you're pretty much toast. It's called submarining, and almost all 4 point harnesses suffer from the same design flaw. There are only a couple decent harness brands that do a good job of designing a 4 point that saves you instead of kills you in a crash.

People should set up up their wheels and tires like that more. Looks sooo sick!

Miss my 1.6 vtec -92 civic hatch. Had it couple of years 10 years ago and it was like new. Such a nice car to drive. Had to change it for extra doors because of baby.

My son was born 6 years ago, but I hung on to my Integra coupe/hatch. :-)

***** lol awesome. My wife had a piece of crap Corolla that kept breaking down, so now I still have my Integra and she has a 2014 Mazda CX-5 crossover, which is just about the perfect size.

I built EG hatchback is my dream car. I'm really digging AWD conversion but FWD is just as good.

This video almost makes me want to go out and get a civic bit then I think it will probably get stolen. This civic looks very fun and cool.

The beeping after Matt shut off the engine reminds me of the Pioneer head unit on my aunt's Daihatsu Charade. I think it was to signal that the anti-theft measures have been armed or something. I don't remember.

Glad this thing wasn't lowered to the core and rubbing all the time lol. Looks like you enjoyed it.

Matt it really concerns me often I see harnesses not installed properly. Harnesses should be only installed in fixed back seats designed for use with them. The harnesses should be mounted to a hard, re-inforced mounting point (whether floor / fixed on chassis, rollcage, harness bar etc) and the harness straps should not be at an extreme angle as in this case. The rest of the car is cool, and seems well done! Just needs some decent seats to work with the harnesses to finish it up.

Why do I like this one so much? Maybe just because it's not all stanced out?

Many others and I have been waiting a looong time for this, can't go wrong with a K-swapped eg. Even though canyon runs isn't what it was set up for, those r888's seem like they held their own. clean build and ofcourse that 2-step 😈

Set up for drag but it puts power down coming out of hairpin turns up hill. Nice setup!

The guy who built this car doesn't know dick about modifying Honda's. Where is the ugly body kit? Where are the VTEC stickers? Why is it not slammed? Seriously though, I love it when people put modern engines in old cars, it's the best of both worlds. It's especially nice to see a Civic that's been done properly. Fair play to you sir.

someday i will get another one of these. had a turbo eg in the early 2000s. next one will be ridiculous though. k24 turbo, awd, rocket bunny kit and big wing and splitter. it will look super ricey bit tons of fun.
