Hey Alex since I know you love these rear view mirror dashcams I thought I might re-post what I used one for in a fb group I'm in for my 2024 BRZ.. The rear view mirror dashcam I use for this is a GKU M10. I have pics which probably help make more sense of what I've written below. This mod I put together because I wanted to see whats right in front of the car ie bump stops and gutters (especially when parking) and know exactly how far I can go up to them without hitting. In my Impreza this is not so hard to know but in this car we sit low and far back so its harder to gauge (or remember!). So I bought a rear vision mirror dashcam with dual camera (2nd cam usually used for the rear window) however I already have a rock solid viofo 229 duo plus doing that job.. so instead I installed the rear cam of the mirror low in my front bumper. With this rear view mirror dashcam it shows on the mirror exactly what either cam can see.. I chose the front bumper cam and it now stays on that view regardless of engine stop start etc.. it will only change view if I manually select to change. I then set the mirror to sleep in 1 minute, meaning it reverts to working as a normal reflective mirror unless I touch it which then shows whats ahead of the bumper.. after which it returns to mirror again. Also this gives redundancy if one of my dashcams fails as I now have 3 forward facing cams and one at the back. As always I add new circuits for these add-ons and install under the dash/kick panel so I maintain the OEM look.

Nice! Yeah that is definitely a cool use of the mirror dash cam, I had another viewer place the 2 camera in the bottom of his Jeep since he does rock crawling and wanted to see clearance. I tell people really there is so much potential for this mirrors, only limited by your imagination and the skill of the installer that is installing it. Cheers!

@@AlexAutoFun Yeh thats an interesting use too.. btw where would you suggest tapping into the high beams for some led spot lights Im putting in on my brz? I can't seem to use any of the traditional headlight harness adapters as the "bulbs" in my headlights are sealed. I could tap into the high beam circuit at the fuse but I always did it from the the wiring at the bulb in the past? Thanks Alex.
