Larger fuel tank would be good on civics at least 80 litres for more range, auxiliary diesel heater would be nice with remote start, rattles too much in low temperatures -10 to -20 Celsius on a trip to Norway a couple of years ago

I guess it’s a case of “this fuel tank is the biggest we can fit to get X much practicality.” I’m fine with that. Range of over 500 miles versus my CRV’s LPG range circa 200 is a game changer 😀

Hi John. Debating between a petrol and diesel civic tourer. Appreciate the diesel is most lauded in terms of drive and economy. However, want it as a long term, post 100k mile vehicle, and have concerns therefore about the DPF going around 100k (I'm told that's what they're good for). How would you weigh up that risk in the decision? Thanks
@johndglynn4 жыл бұрын
I can only tell you how I looked at it when buying. For every so-called "common failure" one reads about online, there are many more cars that don't fail. The Civic DPF is located close to the engine so it heats up quicker and is more effective. A new part is under £400 on eBay and, by the time I might need one, it could be even cheaper. So if DPF is the big risk on this car then it is not much of a risk. I would be more worried about the cost to change the timing chain later in life - am sure that will probably be stretched by 150-160k. But anyway, not going to worry too much until it happens and I may be into electric by then, or gone off to Spain ;)

Hi John, thanks for making both of your videos about this car, it’s really helped me this week and on Saturday I am due to pick up a 2017 i-dtec sport Navi version (17 inch wheels) from a Honda dealer. Hi Nina - sounds great. I still love mine - now 8k miles and it is great. Just bought the various bits for its first service in my ownership - waiting for the weather to cool down a bit. I have Goodyear Vector 4Seasons on it, so no need for separate summer and winter tyres. Hope yours is going well!

Thank you! How are you finding the air con system? The misting up of the front windscreen and having to have the “front” button selected with Air Con on to clear it constantly is driving me mad! Any other settings and it just mists up straight away! No damp in the car, just seems too well sealed!
@johndglynn4 жыл бұрын
@@ninacoomber8692 Hi Nina. I had a similar problem with my car when first purchased - would come out to the car first thing and find the screen misted up inside. The glass gets coated by a sort of fume/gas from new plastics early in life and that creates a film on the glass which absorbs water. I cleaned the inner screen surface a couple of times with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) on a very clean lint-free microfibre cloth, then cleaned it with regular glass cleaner and it has been mist free since. Give that a try. Do a good job of it!
