Just got a 2018 CTR and for a FWD this suspension is tuned to perfection and in stock form is decently fast. I’m already running Hondata FlashPro on an E30 ots map which gave me an additional 50whp and 70ft lbs of torque. I enabled flat foot shifting, disabled rev hang, full power 1st and 2nd, with improved throttle response and it has transformed it to a very fast car. Everything else is stock. This is coming from an 04 STI owner which on it’s last build had 612 awhp and 597 ft lbs of torque on 100% E85. Granted my Suby was a stock GTR killer but the CTR is going to be my track monster.

Driven a type R with a little over 400whp and with upgraded tires. it feels like a c6 z06 with some supersports. So much grip and power. the suspension on that thing feels so natural and so flat making all the turn-ins and exits so predictable. A little brake-boost mid corner exits makes this thing zoom. Love it, and cant wait til the price on these bad boys drop so i can take one home.

Thank you for such a great review of the FK8. I can only endorse everything you said. I am a proud owner myself. Not only is it fast and flatters a poor driver with its enormous grip and stability, it's also very practical. Loads of room inside with all the practicality of an hatchbacks big boot. It's very tame and quiet on a run into town so makes a great family car that turns into a rocket when mom or dad fancies being a bit reckless. If you get the chance drive one, you won't be disappointed.

@eldestructor016 жыл бұрын
Zach Acosta honda is underrated. But dealers in america caught up with their rep. If honda wants, they can make a good race car RWD and expensive and it will still sell. Honda is that good. And reliable. Even a damn luxurious car that is more than entry level, i would buy it. Hell. If Hyundai can do it, I'm pretty sure honda can. And Hyundai is nothing compare to Honda.

I agree with you I think it’s a dam good looking car. I can’t wait to get one instead of the RS .If this car was AWD with a STI Badge people would be going crazy for it.
@TheBrainSpecialist6 жыл бұрын
The reason the 86 is slow is because Toyota and Subaru knew it needed to do two things 1) be a good platform to be built on, or why make it fast if people are just going to swap out whatever motor we put in there. and 2) undercut the "drift tax", sure we could have something super fast from the factory, but it needed to be cheaper to entice the sorts of drivers who would be looking at a S-chassis or a AE86, and to do that certain things like a turbo were left off, this also ties back into reason 1.
@zhixci9586 жыл бұрын
THE BRAIN SPECIALIST lmao dude the only people who says... 86 is slow are the ones who forget that the ae86 was also slow in stock.. but tune it it was a monster in almost anything... rally, drifting, time attacks 86 is just a blank. Canvas... besides if they're looking for cars that has power then get a mustang..because 86 isnt about power its about handling and balance similar to the miata

all people say "its riced out by the factory" but they are dead wrong. as said in the video its built like that for a reason ive used a type-r before(borrowing it,obviously) and it steers great(as said in the vid)and if you let go of the steering wheel while going straight, its stays the same even if you accelerate more and moves if you only steer the wheel again. the chairs hug you as you corner, the fake vents aren't actually fake at all and its serves for great aero dynamics(as said in the vid). the plastic spoiler actually makes 60+pounds of downforce for faster corners(as said in the video).

@TheResolute246 жыл бұрын
I get your point but the GTI is more a competitor to the honda civic si than the honda civic type r. Its like the difference between a WRX and a STI or a Ralliart and EVO. What makes Honda special is that they stuck to FWD till the end.
@BrooXX8566 жыл бұрын

Agreed. I’ve driven a MK5 GTI and a MK5 R32, and I can say that I liked the GTI more. Yes, it didn’t sound as good, but it felt very heavy compared to the GTI.
@TheResolute246 жыл бұрын
True, there are a lot of companies able to put a lot of power down with FWD. What I meant was that honda managed to have 306hp with 295 lb-ft while the GTI has 220hp with 258 lb-ft. The direct competitor to the Type R is the golf R as this car has 292hp with 280lb-ft of torque, this is why James compared the Golf R to the Type R

Just a big, comfortable sedan. A lot of people want that - and I thought I did as well. But having driven a lot more cars since that car got me into the car scene, I've realized that a small car that you can throw around is a lot more fun.

Dude what is the point of downforce to the back wheels in a FWD car?
@Bartonovich526 жыл бұрын
To keep the rear wheels planted, same as in a RWD car. A spoiler is doing precisely jack shit to increase grip during initial acceleration on a RWD car. At speed, very few RWD cars risk losing adhesion from throttle application alone. This is to prevent oversteer which a sticky FWD car like the Type R with helical LSD and torque vectoring will experience.
@turkishstig84896 жыл бұрын
Bartonovich52 have you ever seen a fwd car oversteer other than lift-off? Which wont occur if you use your throttle and brakes like you supposed to. Spoiler will push the car down and act like a handbrake at speed. This is just a riced car from factory, sadly
@Bartonovich526 жыл бұрын
Yes I have. I’ve experienced it courtesy of Canadian winters on a regular basis. And having spent many years with virtually unlimited access to an airfield on which to get cars going sideways at highway speeds... I know more about lift off oversteer than most. It’s far from the only thing that will cause a FWD to go sideways-especially one with an LSD and torque vectoring-and you don’t want to be using brakes when it does... because they will aggravate it.

Love the old top gear direction you're taking here

You just drove a McClaren, and are saying a type-R is "the best car I have ever driven." That makes zero sense unless you're just saying that to sensationalize the video, or are being paid to advertise the car.

Felix Alrick did you ever think maybe he just likes the way the type R drives more then a 570? Just because you drive a Supercar, doesn’t make it the best you’ve ever driven

Felix Alrick There's more to driving a car than how fast it goes. A driving experience encompasses everything a car has to offer.

Type r's are famously fun to drive around a track. Not the fastest cars but fun for sure. I have the old 200bhp type r and it's slow but very exciting and precise nonetheless. With fwd you sacrifice a bit of speed when launching but get a more stable and precise experience

Its all driver's perpective. Not everything about supercar with its fast acceleration is the best driving n fun to drive

Felix Alrick hell yeah dude, btw, I just watched Dark Knight and it was so shit, clearly Justice League is better because it has one billion million dollar budgets amirite? up top my man

If it came out in like 2000, I would have been first in line. Instead I just finished swapping a k20c out of a wrecked type r into my ap1 s2k. And it's guuuuud

The Top Gear style of editing in this episode is fucking superb. Nicely done.

Wooow, I've always thought you would be the next generation of top gear/grand tour. This only cements that idea. See you on BBC/Amazon.

But the Honda Accord 2.0T has a 5.5 0-60 with the same engine albeit in detuned guise? How did that work?
@jean-francoisberube7106 жыл бұрын
Suneil Bhaskara 0-60 tests are not necessarily what engineer built a car for. On a FWD car, the more weight you put at the front, the faster it is at 0-60, but that compromise a lot the handling and cornering speed.

I think it's funny that you have a 2.0l turbo four and people get upset about it like they weren't going to turbo it if it was NA to get more power

I would love to see more New Car Show in this style!

You said it. It looks like you drew it as a kid. That’s why I got it. Love it.
