Honda CM400 carburetor cleaning: tricky hidden holes

These are off a 1980 CM400 (VB21s I believe) but some of this will apply to other similar Honda models

The carb tools (welding torch cleaners also work) are around $10, and a set of cheapy micro drills is around $15, thanks!

I've got a 92 750 Nighthawk. So much more simple. No air cutoff valves, no accelerator pumps. You do have a bank of 4 carbs of course. You have to go through all those passages, most miss that.

How did you get your carb sooo clean?? I used carb cleaners and still has a little oxidation.

This carb was already pretty clean. But Napa has a spray, think it’s called aluminum brightener, helps clear up oxidation. Used it one engine cases, should work on the carb body.

I think that's the hole the accelerator pump pushes gas thru.
