Honda CR 500cc 2016 Prototype | Tomasin R&D

A quick look and some sexy 2 stroke engine sound of this Honda CR 500cc prototype we prepared using a 2016 CRF 250 Frame combined with a CR 500cc 1999 engine which has been prepared and modified with special cylinder head, handmade exhaust and twin carbon mufflers.

Having owned a CR500 and ridden a mates KX500, both had extremely high compression and took a solid kick to turn over. Never had any issues with kickback myself, but I wouldn't be kicking one over in jandals let alone barefoot for that matter.

The duality of man: brave enough to kick a CR500 with flip flops, but so scared to ride it. He even revs in on a roof top instead of like most other people revving the CR500 on their driveways. Yeah, if Honda ever brought back the CR500, they should call it the 'Honda CR500 DriveWay'. Cause, let's face it guys, me included, there are very few individuals who can ride these bikes properly offroad. Of all the CR500 and KX500s left, how many have been reduced to 'driveway bikes'? The owners either, unable to ride them, or too concerned about dirtying them up and reducing resale value.

might want to investigate that exhaust leak. and no it's not from anything he sprayed on the pipe. notice when he gives it gas, smoke is emitting from the front of the bike. bad exhaust o ring or a hole in the pipe itself.

there's no decompression head.... this guy just knows how to kick it over . 500s start nice if you kick them over like it's a 500. try N start it like a 125 and it'll attack your leg lol

A decompression head can be bought aftermarket. Its got a little decomp button on the head. Not saying that this bike has that...

if it has a compression release head, where is it???? Those usually go at 9 o'clock due to clearance... love the cone pipe, but can do without the twin pipe thing. My 2014 Service Honda has a single exhaust.

Maybe not bhp when it comes to a 2 smoke. Might mess up the pulse reflection that an expansion chamber exhaust does, ie. the powerband effect or being up on the pipe as they used to say. Dyno it compared to a single stinger chambered exhaust for the truth. I would guess the 2 silencers here are bling & farkle and fit the frame & bodywork from the '16 CR250. Why add needless weight and complexity, right?
