Climate control HVAC heater AC knob button light bulb (2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 Honda CR-V) for the buttons and knobs for night lights on the lower center console, where you control the AC and Heat, the "Climate Control" knobs on a 2003 Honda CR-V. This is my 2003 Honda CR-V EX and I used a Philips head screwdriver. (Same for '02 '03 '04 '05 '06 CR-V)
Part No. for bulb behind each knob: 79670-SL0-A01
Part Description: Genuine Honda Neo-Wedge (14V 100Ma) Bulb
Part No. for bulb behind each button: 79672-S3N-N41
Part Description: Genuine Honda Neo-Wedge (14V 60Ma) Bulb

Thanks for the video. I have a service manual, but seeing someone doing it builds so much confidence. In my case, the light wasn't completely out, but you had to tap on the knob to get it to come on. I replaced it, and so far so good. My bulb went right in without any filing, so maybe you just got a bad one. In my case, the pocket was hard to remove, but nothing like the heater control which was a real bear, so much so I watched your video about 10 times to make sure I wasn't missing a screw or something. I don't think inserting a screwdriver in those little slots helps any, just muscle, and making sure the emergency brake is out of the way.

Mike...I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for posting this. I am having the intermittent fan problem and getting the dash panels apart is always a big pita for me. You just saved me a ton of time and destroyed plastic as it usually turns out. Your efforts are much appreciated dude......

Thanks so much for posting. I have a 2006 and also had to deal with emergency flasher switch. I had no clue how to get the cubby out with the sw connected and broke a bit of plastic getting the switch out. For others: I thought the sw came out the back of the cubby but it actually comes out the front. Once the cubby is loose enough that you can get at the left side of it, there’s clips on the top and bottom of the sw. Squeeze them together, then the sw will come out the front of the cubby just enough to disconnect the wiring harness, which has a tab on the side which faces the cubby recess. Hope this helps someone!

Thanks for sharing this! This helped greatly to replace all three burnt out bulbs on my 2006 CR-V. Just FYI - on the 2006, the hazard light wiring is attached to the storage compartment instead of the air vent component. You just need to press a little tab on that connector to remove the hazard light wiring, otherwise the instructions are the same.

very helpful, like other comments have mentioned. I'm surprisingly surprise you happen to mention fixing the storage door with a "modified" paper clip. I've been messing with mine on&off for a month or so..and it's not broken or "off track" when closed but it's "off center" "loose" when down or open. it used to drive me nuts, learned to just deal with it..but now, you've given me an idea. sorry for the long explanation, but maybe you didn't have the same problem. anyway, great job all around 👏 🤝 🍻

You can skip the 1st step of taking the piece off around the radio. It is not necessary. The Knob section is the hardest. I broke the top right tab when I pried it off but it didn't matter when I snapped it back in and screwed it down.

Are they AMBER in color or just a very dull white? I did my gauge lights with LED and noticed it turned my dash from the AMBER (or just really old bulbs that faded to amber) to white - which I prefer anyway.

Larry, glad to hear you completed the job! The bulbs that illuminate the dial areas were white and if you replaced those, I'm guessing you just had some old dull ones. The smaller ones for the buttons might be amber, but either way - brighter is better for me!

You can do the job without taking the radio surround off, just pull the cool storage box from within and the box comes out quite easily. if you pull on the area where the screw to locate it goes in, it will pop out with little effort.

Thomas, I wish I could make a video for you but my car is actually being fixed after I was in a minor accident. So, I will try and explain and send you the PDF I used. Here's the PDF: www.crvownersclub.com/TSBs/2004/04-070.pdf If you look down between the Air Filter and Battery area...you'll see the 2 rubber "transmission tabs" pictured in the PDF. There are grooves where the rubber tabs are supposed to sit. Hopefully, the PDF explains that good enough for you. One of my rubber tabs had wiggled loose and was facing the wrong direction. They both should be facing to the left if you're looking down at them. Let me know if you need any further help and I can try to help further!

+THOMAS LONGON Hi mike thx for PDFs ...don,t think that is the problem. The tabs were in the right place. Seems to be in the drivetrain when you put torque on it....not in reverse or when turning left.. There must be someone out there who solved this strange problem. Thx again.

Good to know how to access the climate control box. I actually replaced all three white bulbs to LED blue (4mm Neo4 HP bulbs from superbrightleds.com). My problem started with the LED light on the fan (circulation) button. The button was lit, but the indication LED light wasn't on. I took off the face plate (the silver one) and unscrewed the center screw on the brown circuit board (where you change the panel and button bulbs) to release the knob. It turned out the LED light's soldered legs got loose and were not making contacts to the circuit board. Re-soldered it and everything went back to normal. Post it here just in case someone else has the same issue. Note: the LED polarity does matter. Google it and you will tell which is positive or negative. The control box also shows the electricity flow to help you solder.)

I have a 04 CR-V (not sure if the same as 06 model). If you are looking for non-Honda bulbs, then you will be looking for Neo4 to replace the white ones and Neo3 for the grey ones. However, the red indicator light on the knob may not light up since most of those LED ones are too short (original Honda white bulbs are long). If you are looking to replace with more expensive original Honda parts, then I found the part number for white/knob ones: 79670-SL0-A01 (For grey/button bulbs: 79672-S3N-N41). Good luck.

Thanks for the video worked well on my 2005 LX CRV 2WD. Two problems I encountered that is different from your video. The first is the part that needs to be removed to access the HVAC Controls has the flasher assembly attached (at time 2:05 in video) in the model year 2005. Found this difficult to remove but it will come out with time. Second I broke both upper tabs, of the HVAC heater control knobs when trying to take it out with a flat blade screwdriver. This did not matter as the screws held the part in place when assembled. Luckily it broke where it could not been seen. One suggestion I used a small flat blade screw driver to take out the light assembly just a simple turn to the left to take it out and a simple turn to the right to put it back. Worked very slick and very quick.

That bulb has a slit on the bottom of it, just use a flathead screwdriver to turn it to remove and install it. If you did it by hand, you'll have a hard time because you can't apply enough torque by hand. And also those little knubs you filed out are the locking tabs to hold the bulbs in place.

I think he's actually referring to a bump that was in the way from the injection mold.

@@mattjones5987 yea the bump is needed to have retention for the bulb to stay in place. He was doing it by hand and so that's why he couldn't spin it to go past the bump to lock it in place. Again, as in my first comment.. you just have to use a flat head screwdriver 🪛 and twist the old bulb out and twist the new one in.

Michael, it would appear that you purchased a new socket along with the bulb. Are the socket and bulb the same part number, or are the bulb and socket different part numbers? If the socket is a different part number, what is it? I ruined mine trying to pull the bulb out of the socket!

Yes sir! That part number includes the new socket/base. I didn't mind paying for the Honda part since there aren't many lights in this area. However, if you watch my video on replacing the lights behind the speedometer area (instrument cluster)…I found out the size of the bulbs and I simply kept the old bases. Hope that helps! Finally, please note that you don't have to remove the first panel around the radio like I did in the video. Just skip to the second step, removing the middle section with the cubby hole!

Yes, I had already removed the heater control panel to access the bulb, but accidentally attempted to extract the bulb from the socket. I thought that the bulbs were independent of their sockets. Anyway, now I know what the part number is when I go to my local Honda dealer. Thanks for posting!
