The Africa Twin is probably the first ADV bike that's bringing a lot more sport/cruiser bike oriented people into the ADV world. 4 years ago if You'd ask me to buy a motorcycle, I wouldn't have given any of the ADV bikes a second look even though I'm aware of the XR750 AT's history at the Paris-Dakar rally. Might get a used 2016 AT down the years and plan a round the world trip, or atleast a Pan Eurasian tour on them with the luggage boxes. Also helps that the 270 crank makes the parallel twin sound somewhere between that of a triple and a v-twin.

Really nice duude. I am here in process of choosing. I migth get a big trail in the next year. at least thats what Im holping for. This one of the bikes on my list. But i gatta say, the last one. Let me explain. The twin is the one i most want, but in Brasil, it will get here in the next trimester, it will cost as much as a BMW ADV. Not AS much, BUT PRETTY PRETTY CLOSE. So , considering both of them stock, the BMW delivers a lot more for the money. I wont describe the optionals here, couse i bet you already know. And i would say that now, the first one in my list is de super tenere. Much chiper than the Honda, gives a lot more, in terms of accessories and i find that it has an amazing looks. But, i've got time. Still folowing your videos. Keep them on cousa missa like it. See ya Keep up the good work. Ride safe. PS:Sorry about possibles misspelings.

Adventure bikes for commuting. It's the future! Recently started a new job at JLR. Got a Tiger 800 XR for the commute from Stafford to Coventry. There's no way I could do that every day without a bike. And even though I have the XR it does have limited off road ability.

@TheCrumble8 жыл бұрын
It's ok - the torque is decent. If your looking for speed though as an important aspect of it look elsewhere. It's not really what the bike is about.

True. I want a bike of this type, Africa Twin or V Strom 1000 i think, but I'd be sad if I felt they were too slow and sluggy. I don't need an R1 accelleration, nor a "naked 1k" bike, but I'd be sad if i felt i was slow under and up to 60.

Great video! Thanks for the explanation! I'm not even 30, but I'm think I'm getting into my midlife crisis as I never was a motorcycle fan, but now growing more and more into it. Hi Crumble, good review. I'm thinking of getting an AT as there's some great deals at the moment. Did you ever try the dct version and if so why did you choose the manual. I'm looking at the manual as I'm worried about a disconnect with no clutch although I'll try them both. Thanks
@TheCrumble7 жыл бұрын
chello885 yeah you should try both. The DCT didn't interest me to be honest. I want to be in control of the bike and the inability to blip the throttle when filtering is not good. Heard lots of stories of people blipping the throttle and dropping it at standstill too. Tried one and wasn't keen. Heavier too. But then you might love it so... Good luck - they are a great adventure bike 👍🏻
@chello8857 жыл бұрын
The Crumble , thanks for the info. Like you I also blip the throttle on the downshift and not doing this would seem weird after years of doing it. My other concern would be the bike changing up through the gears too early when you want to accelerate quickly and hold the gear longer. Keep making the videos 👍

Me encanta la moto pero no me gusta caerme... ¿Por qué Honda no ha fabricado una mil con unos 150 kg. de peso como máximo? Saludosss.

Hi Crumble, like your videos - subscribed a minute ago. I'm sure you can relate to this, how was it from coming from a 1200 cc / 150 bhp multistrada to a 95 bhp machine? I'm asking because I'm currently on a 990 Smt (116 bhp) and looking for a new bike. The 1190 adventure is awesome, but feels overwhelming due to its 150 bhp. I can't say that I'd ever be able to use those bhp's unless I'd be on the German motorway. In the end I want agility, comfort and fun. Does the AT do that for you?

Hi mate! I understand your fears! I always thought the Multi was too much engine for a big tall bike like that anyway. This bike is not slow and it's very agile for quite a heavy bike. It will feel a lot bigger and heavier than the SMT having sat on the KTM. It's a bike that does lots of things very well. Its not a powerhouse but off road and on back roads , where this bike is most at home, it's just the right amount of power. And it looks great!!

You should lop an inch off each end of the bar for easier lane splitting! Holy crap that was sketch. How's it feel loaded down? I've read couple of reports that the bike feels loose and wallows.
@TheCrumble8 жыл бұрын
I have just done a trip with the bike loaded up and thought it wasn't as capable as some others I've tried. I wouldn't recommend it as a two up touring bike.

bad ass! but how long will the twin last before you trade it in for a new toy? ;) are you going to follow suit with a face reveal dude?

Nah no face reveal. I like the mystery with vloggers and no bugger wants to watch my ugly mug 😳
