This video shows our new custom racks we made for the HONDA CRF300L. They are an improved version of our old racks, that we have been using for RTW riding over 2,5 years and ~100000km.
The construction is extremely strong to carry lots of weight. We usually travel to places, where we often have to carry a lot of food, extra fuel and water. So we need extra strong racks for these special needs.

On the 300 the subframe looks way better than on the 250l. We had around 40kg luggage, and it broke, but a friend reinforced the broken parts an it was ok after that. I think it will be fine 🙂

The racks are custom made, and shall give only an inspiration on how you could do it, since there is not much on the market, and we thought a lot how to improve our old racks. The panniers are from Bumot (www.bumot.eu), they are called xtremada, we bought them from www.allroadmoto.be The cannisters we used we bought here: www.tigerexped.de/Montagefuss-fuer-Kanister-einzeln-schwarz www.tigerexped.de/offroad-kanister-tuelle-schwarz-4l It says 4.5 liters, on the homepage, on the canister itself it says 5 liters, and we tested it, it's definitely 5 liters with some space left.

Awesome work! Do you think you can still have a passenger with this system? I'll ask my local welder build something similar for me :) it would be awesome if you could send me the raw sketches of the rack, if you still have them 🙏

You can have a pillion, however it doesn't have the passenger foot pegs anymore. So the pillion has to put the feet onto the rack struts.

Hi ! I am a bit disappointed since I am convinced that your rack system is brilliant and I was hoping to find a link to order them from you or from another manufacturer. I have some Bumot hard panniers for my Ténéré 700 and I am thinking of buying the Extremada as well, both for the Ténéré and the CRF 300L which is about to be on order. Can I suggest that you liaise with Bumot who has an industrial capacity to manufacture these racks for the CRF 300 L. I think this would benefit you and Bumot... And I would be pleased to be your first client !!!

Hi, no, it's a custom rack, we designed it ourselves, and let a welder weld it together, since there are no racks available we thought it could be helpful to others to see what options there are. But we don't produce them, but many people asked for it actually, so maybe that is something we should think about 😉 Yes, maybe we should ask Bumot if they support the idea, that's a great idea, otherwise we don't have the possibility ourselves unfortunately

Thanks, we have a lot of people asking us where to buy the panniers. However, we unfortunately don't have the tools to make them ourselves. A local welder had to poduce them for us.

@@RTWriders Da sollte gerade ein Satz demontiert vo Frank-Willi Brucenstein sein, denke ich. Wenn das Rack nicht schwer mitgenommen ist, könntet Ihr das Rundum fotografieren und die Fotos durch eine Photogrammetrie-Software jagen. Dann hättet Ihr ein 3D-Modell, dass Ihr Ihr Firmen wie Moskomoto oder Touratech anbieten könnten, quasi zum nachbasteln. Die könnten Euch dafür mit ein paar Portemonnaietabletten, Bonbons oder Gooddies Eurer Wahl beglücken! 🤗 Zhis is really a very gelungenly Design!

@@zweispurmopped Das kaputte Moped ist zum Glück die alte CRF250L. Die 300er mit diesem Heckträger steht heile in Deutschland. Falls da eine Firma wirklich Interesse am Design hätte, könnte man das natürlich schon irgendwie weitergeben.

Why not the rally version, seems better suited for long travel with wider seat, 50% more range and better wind protection?

We decided against the rally, because its heavier, I don't like the rally front and all that additional plastic. The seat on this one I like, it's the same like on the 250l, and that was really comfortable for me (I'm small) And we actually thought there would be a bigger tank out by now🤪

@@RTWriders It's only heavier by 12kg of which 1/3 is the extra fuel capacity of the rally. The rest 7-8kg(not really that much) are bigger brake, seat dual headlamps and wind protection, all good for traveling. They've(Honda) really thought this one through. But at the end it's what makes you happy that counts. Stay safe 👍.

Yes, you too 🤗 I never saw the rally version in real life, but I was sitting on other motorcycles with a cockpit, and i just didn't like it that much. I think you get used to it, but since I used the 250l for almost 100000km, I just wanted the same view 😃🤪

Bonjour, notre porte-bagages est fait maison car tous les porte-bagages en vente ne répondent pas à nos exigences. Le seul porte-bagages qui semble décent est celui d'Outback Motortek. outbackmotortek.net/product-category/honda/honda-crf-300-rally-l/

Sorry, we don't sell them, we just thought a lot about how to construct them, and found a good welder that could do them exactly as we wanted. With the video we just wanted to share our thoughts, and help other people to build a good rack (or let someone build it)

Just wear five shirts, five pairs of pants, five of everything, one pair of riding boots and one pair of street shoes on the rear fender rack. That’s a weeks worth of clothes which offer five layers of protection.

We don't even bring that many clothes 🤪 but we have a tent, sleepingbags, cooking gear, and clothes for cold and rainy weather (we always camp, between -10 to +40°C), bring some spareparts and tools to repair the bike, and beer 🍻

Wow, ich würde mal sagen an Nachfrage mangelt es nicht. Ausgeklügeltes, sinnvolles Design. Falls ihr dass Design mal als CAD oder so veröffentlicht würde ich es mir vlt an meine DR anpassen. Gute Fahrt euch.

Danke - ja, wir hatten schon erstaunlich viele Nachfragen. Allerdings existiert leider keine CAD Zeichnung dafür. Wir haben das auf die gute alte Art mit ein paar laienhaften Zeichnungen, unserem Schweißer und den Erfahrungen mit den alten Heckträgern entsprechend optimiert.

Thanks - our CRF300Ls now have 13,5 liters tank capacity + 5 liters spare canister - so allover we can ride ~500-600 kilometers with that ;-)
