Honda CRV 2012-2016 4th gen Radiator Replacement (steps in description)

Give yourself at least 5-6 hours if you never did this before. Items needed:
Radiator (move old parts to the new radiator like rubber feet, temp sensor, etc)
10 and 12mm tools
Screwdrivers
Paper towels
Needle nose pliers
Antiseize compound
Coolant 2 gallons
Hose clamp if corroded
Ramps
Flashlight
Clip remover tool
Large radiator funnel for burping
5 gallon pail
Steps:
1) Move car to ramp or lift front
2) Remove splash guard
3) Relocate hood stand
4) Drain coolant (loosen cap)
5) Remove upper, lower, recovery hoses
6) Remove grille (see Zach Fields vid • CR-V Grill Removal and... )
7) Remove hold down brackets
8) Remove horn bracket
9) Unplug fans and temp sensor
10) Unclip hood latch cable but dont remove latch
11) Remove bulkhead
12) Remove fans
13) Remove radiator
Install in reverse order and add coolant and burp with heater on
Torque
fans 7nm
Bulkhead 10nm
Hold down brackets 12nm
Temp sensor 10nm

Yes, I thought it was needed since at the time, there were plenty of radiator swap videos of 2nd and 3rd gen CRVs but nothing on 4th gen. Thanks for leaving a nice comment which is always appreciated. Hope it helped.

@@gfriedman99 - Did the job yesterday. Your video absolutely helped! I was also able to accomplish from above and without removing the splashguard, (which I have had previous frustration with replacing the hoses 2 weeks ago. I should have known the slow leak was the radiator). The video on front end trim was also very valuable. I need to leave him a comment as well. Thanks again.

@@pepel4006 Great. Yeah, the splashguards are ridiculous. I dont know why they need screws when plastic clips work fine. Or at least use some anti-seize at the factory.

Thank you. Yes, it's usually a slow leak in the radiator at the seam. Not enough that it leaves a puddle of coolant under the car. But the clue is that the recovery tank is empty after a couple of weeks.

Can you explain Step 3? I see the hood placement, but I cannot locate where to place it in the engine/fender area - unfortunately you point from a far location and I cannot find anything that will work. Thank you. It's ashame your original video didn't upload and no one else seems to have a video/chat about this.

Found it - for others - you need to remove the right back black plastic cover (that has hood bumper on it) to reveal the hold off fender - have a 16 SE.

I just found a secure spot for the bottom of the rod to rest that was out of the way and not likely to get dislodged.

One important thing I forgot to mention is that there are a couple of parts you will need to transfer from the old radiator to the new radiator. There are 2 rubber feet on the bottom that simply push on and also the temperature sensor. There is not a lot of torque on the sensor so just snug it down. @@kristalindstrom8743 The coolant can leak from many places not just the radiator. Hoses, radiator cap, recovery bottle, water pump. Identifying the source of the leak is the first step. 2016 is the next generation with earth dream engine I believe so the task could be slightly different. But largely should be similar.
