Replacing the bolts/studs on a 1999 Honda CRV Catalytic Converter. These studs tend to rust. Its a simple fix. Also replaced the B Pipe due to rust.

This method of removing the studs works on a 1995 accord as well. Much appreciative for the technique

Do you happen to know the size of those studs? I can't get oem, so I need to get stainless bolts.

At least for the 2005 CR-V : Honda Part No.: 18176-P08-003 And they're $17 at the dealer or $12 online. Each. Not sure where he got them for $4 each.

Nice video; thanks. Curious why you choose to replace the converter stud with new studs instead of just using regular bolts & nuts from any hardware store.

The customer requested factory parts, plus the factory bolts are less likely to loosen because they can be tapped in.

Would there be any issues with using regular bolts and nuts from a hardware store?

Also, would you need to take the catalytic converter completely off if you just needed to change these bolts?

@@shaneboyd8788 Supposedly hardware store bolts won't last nearly as long - they'll rust real soon, even stainless will start pitting due to the heating and cooling cycles. If you ever plan to remove the bolts consider using copper (not aluminum) anti-seize. That said, for the price differential it might just be worth it to put in cheap bolts and replace them as needed.
