Says Just gently press then pounds with hammer.... Genius. Simply genius. Next time I pound something with a hammer I'm going to say to anyone and everyone that I have "gently pressed" the object in question therefore it couldn't possibly be broken. I'm inspired ...thank you Mr. Brainard. Thank you.

This technique worked on our 2004 Odyssey this morning. I did have to heat the flange corners with the torch, though. Thanks!

nice job...I noticed one thing..are the 2 front flanges supposed to have a gap between them??...or smooshed together?...I have to gut out my converter and am wondering about that- if I have to have a slight gap beteen the flanges where the donut gasket goes...thanks

curious if there was any "cleaning" of of the guts (and what method), or swap of sensor?

Hello, I didn't touch or clean the converter, and I replaced the same sensor

Just replace it. That flange is rotted and it wont last much longer.

Can you use a cadillac converter from a civic and put it on an accord?

Cadillac doesn't make converters for Hondas.

How do you know when to replace a cat? Or do they last forever?

When the flanges fall off or the ODB2 faults a P0420 P0430. It could be the rear O2 sensor. But when it goes you will never get it out without the Cat turning to powder.
