I just now saw this comment...I will check it out...no purple gowns at the hospital I was at....my brother in law and his girlfriend came for a visit yesterday and he was telling me some of my hospital antics that I don't recall....it was the pain meds, I'm sure. Apparently, one morning, Matt came in and he said it looked like a cyclone in my room...pillows and blankets and everything else thrown all over the room...I guess I was mad because my call bell wasn't answered in a timely fashion. Thanks mate. Did my tappets tonight :) There was no gap at all! Hope my valves are ok as I started it before checking the clearances. Probably due to the new cylinder and gasket I installed? but I still don't have the best grasp of the valves and how this would affect them. You're right about 9mm being an odd size! I have a 16 piece set that has everything from 6mm to 19mm... Apart from the 9mm. Must be uncommon if it's the only size they skipped! Had to go pick one up from the shop! Engine still sounding rattle. Tried adjusting the cam chain but don't have any adjustment left... Prob time for a new one! (As an fyi I found this video hard to find as it doesn't mention "valve clearances" or "tappets" in the heading).

Thanks Felix, the valve clearances would be unchanged by the new cyl & head gasket. I didn't do a separate video on adjusting them as it's difficult to film, but easy to do. But thanks for letting me know that it's difficult to find, I'll try & fix that. Glad the videos helped & once you've done the engine work it's so much easier a second time. All the best.
