Thank you. A visual is much better than the owners manual. You have made me a timing chain expert. I have no more chain noise after the adjustments.

Just a question, when I did the first step and loosen the lock nut and turned the adjusting screw counter clockwise, it started to razzle so I stopped the engine because I thought the cam chain would jump off, I tried to turn back the screw but it seemed I could not do that with the engine running. Thx
@Free_Ranger_CT1108 ай бұрын
@@Oldtimerman it should be possible with engine running, that's how Honda say to do it. Only slacken the screw a small amount, just enough to all the plunger to slide. the plunger has a flat side that the screw butts up to. Don't allow the plunger to rotate or you'll not get the screw fully back in. Hope that helps.

Cheers mate, that's a good one. So this adjustment does not related to engine oil pressure and auto adjusting...? Thanks
@Free_Ranger_CT110 Жыл бұрын
Not on this model no, on earlier ct90 bikes engine oil drains behind the plunger & hydraulic locks it & auto adjusts. These earlier bikes don't have the screw & locknut which holds the plunger in position as seen on the engine in this video. Thanks for watching & commenting.

Useful details on function - however - there is no mention of how many turns of the lower (not the side lock) tensioner/plunger as an initial setting if replacing the chain.
@Free_Ranger_CT110 Жыл бұрын
The cap/plug can't be seated if the screw is proud of the boss, as an initial setting screw it in just below the case & the plug can be fitted without fouling on the scew.

Is it safe/recommended to do the adjustment whilst the engine is running or do we have to tweak/restart/stop/tweak/repeat?
@Free_Ranger_CT1102 ай бұрын
Yes, with engine running is how Honda recommend. Only slacken the side screw slightly so the plunger doesn't twist. It has a flat on it for the screw to locate against. Hope that helps.
