Yep, in the UK we suffer from the same attitude of binning a part rather than trying to fix it. Fixing things are what Mechanics do. Fitters simply replace parts. Huge difference. Good vid Mark - thanks.

I'd have to disagree with you back in the day a mechanic would also be or have some level of engineering ability today they are just technicians unbolt the old one, bolt on the new one if it doesn't fix the issue charge the customer anyway and wait for it to come back.

So satisfying to have a sweet running engine. And yes - I agree - “fix or repair” is so much better than the lazy “chuck and replace”.

Good Day Mate from wet & rainy southeast Arizona. (Monsoon Season, doncha know) You mentioned you were gonna learn how to test Stators (alternators) and regulator/rectifiers. Well, I have a down & dirty, seat of the pants method that has worked for me of over 60 years. With the engine turning about 2000 RPM, attach your Multi-Meter to your battery. If the meter is reading under 13 volts, dollars to stale doughnuts the stator (alternator ) is bad. If the meter is reading over 15 volts, Reuglator/ Rectifier is bad. I have no idea who taught me this, but this method has never failed me. Jim Jaudon Grandpa Fumblefingers in the desert

Recently I bought a pair of Honda cub-type scooters (Honda ANF125i) for a bit of fun for me and the missus to explore with. I'm now a total little bike convert. Absolutely have the most fun on the little machines. Takes me back to being a teenager revving the nuts off my 50cc. Love them.

Stopping the glug from any Gerry can and thus control of the pour.. Keep the spout at the top and the can horizontal at waist height side on to the can where possible. This allows you to have the can supported one hand at the top and one on the base. Allowing you to maintain the pour in a controlled manner without the glug glug glug. It's a shame I can't add a picture but I hope this explains it in manner that is comprehensible. As reading it back it's as clear as mud. So with the can held, hand on top, hand on base held horizontal with the spout away from you can rotate left right forward and back to control the pour with a standard spout if you have one with air vent put the spout on so as the vent is at the top depending on whether your pouring to the left or to the right. Not quiet so muddy that time but again a picture would help make so much more sense of this.

Fantastic vid Mark, you gave Tango a great road test and a good going over I could nearly hear the valves bouncing lol. He rev’s out cleanly and for older Postie bike he would give a newer Postie a good run for the money (Post) 💰. Hwy

Interesting that you've cut off the heal part of the gear change.I've tried just using the front part of the gear lever and find it very hard to change gears like that. Is there some trick? Also I never use the choke to start the bike and nearly always starts first kick. Great video.

Hi Mark, love fixing old bikes. When I was a young fella, my mates and I used to buy old crap for a couple of bucks, fix em up and rode them till they completely fell apart. Any chance of a review of your soft pannier bags? Like to know how they've held up.
