What's it like to ride a motorcycle with an automatic transmission? Turns out it's pretty fun. See for yourself, and let us know what else you'd like to see us ride in a video in the comments.

As a mature adult, yes. The DCT allows you to work on other mechanics quickly as a new rider (this was my experience) and you can still use the Manuel override for paddle shifting. I ride a lot of twists and sweeps where I live and the bike handles beautifully. I know a lot of people refer this bike as a commuter bike but I ride with Harley and ADV riders and keep up just find. It’s an all around solid bike.

what’s the top speed?
@ccmiller42 жыл бұрын
@@mhmyuhh hum, the top speed for me was 88mph. You really need to plan any passing well in advance. I now have the Honda Rebel CMX 1100 and it is effortless in power…

Amazing machine! Smooth vibration-free, touring without the bloat and weight of a bigger bike. Low maintenance high mpg motor. Update: I bought a uses 2012 NC700X with 33K miles on it last month and loving it. I discovered some very minor vibrations at certain rpm's like 2800 and 3500? But at 70mph on the highway in 6th gear it gets so smooth it feels like the engine shut off as vibs fall to zero in the handlebars and pegs. On my second tank I got 63.7MPG and I average 72 on the highway.

I finally obtained a 2015 700D after a frustrating hunt for one. They sell quick. I'm coming off a VTX 1800 and due to nerve damage this is a nice option.

great bike; so comfy and ez to ride; the dct is so nice. but i hear center stands don't fit asia model as Eu and usa model are higher. no one has lower model. What Honda didn't to is make a side stand for the lower riding model. they use the same so the bike is almost upright and ez to tip over the other way with the same stand they provided for all models. HELLOOOOO Honda. hope they fix this on the 2021 model.

Beautiful place to ride. Looks a lot like Oregon farm land and foothills. What sounds came through your helmet; wind, bike, road?
@MotorsportsInternationalAuburn4 жыл бұрын
That should be it. I run a separate digital record for audio, because the camera just picks up distorted wind noise.

I’m very interested in getting the CTX 700 DTC, but as a 6’5” tall and 210 lbs. Will I be ok? Any examples from owners appreciated!
@theobrown13092 жыл бұрын
I just got one at a premium from a private sale. I'm 6 foot 2 and 200 pounds with a shorter torso and longer legs. At first I felt very big. coming from a 1986 en450. the full fairing does not accommodate my knees naturally. however after 4 weeks and multiple 3 hour rides it is still comfortable. I like the look of the wide fairing but if you are taller I would recomend the naked model but not call the fairing a deal breaker.

Do the Honda bags fit a full face helmet? How wide is it at its widest point with bags?
@ralphdemott26394 жыл бұрын
I have one with the same bags. No they do not hold full face nor open face. I put a Givi top case on it and would highly recommend. The one thing no one ever mentions is the manual mode shifting which is really the way to ride it.

Is it possible to stand on the pegs to relieve pressure on your butt? They seem a little far forward, more like a chopper.
@MotorsportsInternationalAuburn4 жыл бұрын
They are pretty far forward (like a lot of cruisers). It would be tough to stand up on the pegs.
@ccmiller43 жыл бұрын
Pegs are extended as it is more cruiser than touring. My backside does get sore after a few hours of riding.

Is this a good choice for a first bike - would like to do some touring in a year or two?
@sjhoover413 жыл бұрын
I have one and love it. It is my first bike. Easy for a beginner, but don’t mistake it for a scooter or you will be sorry. I commute with mine and no manual clutch is especially great for that. I’ll be going on a 3 week tour in July. It’s very comfy but the pegs are pretty forward. If you want to tour you may want to look into some mini floorboards. Not much in the way of aftermarket stuff but I did find a taller windshield which made a huge difference.

I have a 2018 as my first bike. Love everything about it. I ride mostly in sport mode due to type of riding (twists and sweeps). Sips gas. It does have paddle shifters if you wish to ride in a manual mode.

@@ccmiller4 Hi! I was looking at this as my first bike. Reading your review was refreshing. U definitely recommend for a first bike? Easy to ride? Thank you!
@theobrown13092 жыл бұрын
yes but you really should learn to operate the manual bikes so you can understand the fundamental techniques that keep you safe on the road. I have not been riding very long. this dct model is my second bike. I found the dct to be surprisingly cumbersome for parking lot maneuver. the manual bikes give you more control of the friction zone und 15 mph. this being the first thing you learn on a bike is important for your safety. understanding the basic functions of the machine. that being said the dct is a blast and very relaxing to ride. I have no doubt you could start on this bike but there's an illusion of security in giving the computer some of your control over your machine.

fully auto; like a scooter ?
@brettcammack4 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Scooters use a form of CVT (or belt drive). This is a DCT, a computer-controlled, dual-clutch "manual" transmission. Like Ferraris and C8 Corvettes with flappy-paddle shifters.
@ccmiller43 жыл бұрын
It does have a manual mode with paddle shifters. You can also shift +/- while in auto mode too. I ride mostly in sport mode for the added torque. Very nibble and sips gas.

If your this kinda guy get a ktm 790 adventure and the takes away all the wind. Honda beats ktm all day though so just get a africa twin.
@MotorsportsInternationalAuburn4 жыл бұрын
Easy for you to say. I'm 5'6, and adventure bikes are tough. They're also trying to make something for an entirely different rider with this one.
@jayryan74732 жыл бұрын
Outdoor Shack 😄 Yeah right... That KTM is more than TWICE the cost of this Honda. It's got a bigger motor and more power, yet lacks the DCT. So if that price IS worth it to you then let your benjamins rain on that salesman... maybe you'll contribute to his kid's college fund LoL
