Honda CX500 Cafe Racer Build 19 - Making exhaust mounts & frame dismantling for powder coating

Final checks before sending the Honda CX500 Cafe Racer frame off to the powder coaters. I need to reassemble the entire bike to make sure it's all ready & I need to fabricate and add the new exhaust mount bracket. After that I need to once again disassemble the bike and split into 2 piles, black and red pile.

Hope you think about chance the CX mag (alloy) wheels to spoke. Nobody have made a video about that. You would break KZbin. Good job.

Amazing, best of luck with both. Only thing I'd say is make sure your swingarm is either re-enforced or use a Eurosport arm that'll withstand the strain.

bold, question. is that the oem fan on the front of the engine or did you install a car fan? also, i didn't know brits have discovered vans are awesome shoes to work on engines, indestructible! i think other than work boots, vans are so good.

No, not really, the frame will be gloss so will blend in nicely.

Thanks, I use a Sealey MightyMIG 150 and a 50l 2.4hp 9.6cfm compressor (I think that's right), and as it's a small compressor I'm using an LVLP spray gun.

I'm seriously thinking about building a cafe racer. I'd like to know your opinion on whether the cx500 or Virago is a better option. The advantage the pre 1984 Virago has is that it already has the monoshock that I want in the rear. Anyone else have any opinions on these 2 bikes as cafe racers?

If you want the CX you can get the Eurosport as that's a monoshock. In that case minimal welding will be needed.

Would the sand blasting get rid of the rust?

+nitin walia it'll clear any rust off tr frame, any old paint etc. Basically get the frame back to bare metal

Apparently it's mechanically sound; He also said it hasn't been used in a long time so I'm a bit dubious as to how sound it is. Apart from that it's purely cosmetic.
