Looking good, can't wait to hear it. Just getting started on my 76 GL hope it turns out as well. I am discovering that the entire process is a learning experience no matter how long you've been riding and how many bikes you've wrenched on every day is something new.

+Outside the lines thanks. Good luck with yours. Yeah it's always a learning curve. And no matter how long you do it there are still mistakes.

Well, did not think that color scheme was really going to work that well, seeing it now has changed my mind. Nice job mate. Oh and to stop the wingers about putting the fork in your vice, use a small diameter pvc plumbing pipe, split it in half and glue a thin sheet of rubber to the inside of the split pvc . Then put the casing around the fork and tighten in the vice, protection you can use over and over. Cheers Brother.

I am thinking of not having the centre stand and just having the kick stand, for the time being it's easier to work with it on. For the badges, to late I'm afraid to tidy up the indent behind them

Invest in some soft jaws for your vice mate. 2 short bits of aluminium angle. Or bit of soft aluminium sheet bent over. Other than that keep it up.

I fully agree on liking the curve to the frame. Looking great! I can't remember, are the shocks factory length? Basically is it going to be the factory stance, or will it sit any lower?
@forthebold7 жыл бұрын
The rear shocks are roughly factory length, but the new positions of the upper mounts are lower, so the back will be higher by about 2 inches

Just noticed that when you put the front wheel on it was oscillating back and forth and I know you wouldn't ride the bike without balancing your wheels but I was wondering if you had considered the balance beads? I've used the on my longhaul trucks and my motorhome but have never tried them on a bike, I do know they work really well on the large vehicles. Actually on the large vehicles it's a balancing powder not beads.

Loving the videos! Keep them coming. I've recently bought a Kawasaki gt550 as my 1st project bike - you've definitely given some good tips. I'd like to do my own welding, did you attend any welding courses or did you learn as you go?
@forthebold7 жыл бұрын
+swinp22 amazing. Good luck with your build. For welding - just trial and error. But I would advise a course as tutors can teach the exact way
@swinp227 жыл бұрын
For The Bold - dreegez ok thanks. Why do you choose to spray the tank rather than get it powder coated with the frame? Will the paint chip and mark easier on the tank?
@forthebold7 жыл бұрын
Spraying allows you to create your own designs and build up the paint / clear coat, just a different process, but if you use cellulose paints then it's durable

I'm not a fan of frame that are painted, should leave it the way it is from the factory...... either black or gray metal looking whatever the case is. Painted frames just spells cheesy to me, but that's just me. With that said, it doesn't look too bad though, what you've done to the bike soo far. Keep it up.
@forthebold7 жыл бұрын
I kinda agree with you, red is the only colour I'd consider to paint a frame, never any other colour, I think it's because I'm most familiar with red motox frames.
