As wiring is a complex process we're splitting up these episodes into bite sized chunks in the stages that we go through. First fitting the controls and electrical items and running a rough path for our wiring loom.

Just agreed to purchase a basket case CX500, mainly because it has an original reg from my home county. I had considered bringing it back to stock, but the bike's shape especially the angle of the heads really lends itself to a custom look. I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into the project thanks to your video. I'll dig out your other CX500 vids and shamelessly rob your ideas. Thank you. 😀

Bought a honda cb400n last sunday that i've started stripping down. It will eventually become a scrambler and it's my absolute first project - I also have zero experience with these things. Your videos help a lot and make it seem a lot easier and more approachable! Keep uploading, it's great to see how far the CX has come :)

I love electrical. I used to be an aviation electronics tech. Have you seen the new regulators that have a GPS tracker in them, have all the relays built in for all the lights, automatically starts the bike with a key fob, alerts you if someone touches the bike through your smartphone, and you can also start you bike with your smartphone, and has USB charging ports. It's like $320, but with the bike theft epidemic in your neck of the woods, it might worth it. They are super easy to install. You can also program flasher rates.

Hey, about these holes you drill on the handlebar: wrap it first with several layers of electrical rubber tape, press the control against it so it "punches" the mark into the tape, and then it will prevent the drill bit from sliding away !

I just bought a '80 Honda CM200T that has a 6v battery. As I am upgrading some of the parts, control switches and lights, I am having a hard time finding what will work for my bike because all of the newer stuff is 12v. Can I use the new stuff? I am assuming the outputs, the lights specifically, will need to be 6v. What tips would you have for going about this without upgrading the entire electrical system? Thanks!

Why did you choose to stick with the old CDI and not go with a RaeSan or Ignitech? Also, for a lithium battery, there is a newer regulator that will be much better than the original. You can run one with the original, but they tend to go poof faster.
@forthebold
@forthebold 6 жыл бұрын

I can attest to the poof... it went...then my battery went poof in big white cloud. No racing required. Also you might wanna check the coils, I think they ground to the frame.
