You can save time and effort by just removing the plastic trim around the radio, rather than the whole center console. Look above the A/C controls, and you'll see 2 slots on the bottom of the radio trim. Cover a flat screwdriver in cloth, insert into the slots, and pull the black plastic trim off.

A+ on the video. You can pop the two side panels on each side of the radio to expose the mounting bolts without removing the entire trim. I had no idea what that little snap plug was next to the shifter, thank you for explaining it. You were also replacing a replacement and not a stock Honda Element head, which is why you didn't need that extra bit. The stock Honda head is a double din. If it has a CD tray then it's already been replaced. Anyone pulling a stock Honda Element radio will need that structural bit you didn't need.

that looks like an oem radio, even plugged in to the oem wiring harness, so I'm guessing some Elements came with Single DIN radios. I just checked the Element I just bought, it does have a double DIN radio, but, it also comes with XM radio and MP3/WMA CD player, which the Element in this video does not have.

Ok great job but you don't have to take off the whole panel The panel around the radio it self comes off and thats all you need to take off

Thanks for posting this very comprehensive video. I gave my son my 2003 for his 16th BD (I’m a sacrificial mom like that...😹 I got myself a 2010 model ROFL) and upgraded him with a navigational system since kids these days get lost going to the kitchen lol. This video made installation super stress free.

These videos make me question them, when the installer removes THE ENTIRE trim piece from the console, when simply removing the trim bezel around the radio itself, is so much easier.

Something to consider with the speaker wires is how to ensure they are wired in phase, not out of phase.

Question... I installed my custom radio in a 2004 honda element and everything works except the factory subwoofer console. Is there an extra connection I need to make and what would be the easiest way to get it connected?

I think so

My harness comes with a solid orange wire and the speaker wire comes with a orange/white stripe wire. Do these not connect?. Same thing with a solid blue and blue/yellow stripe.

did you plug in the bluetooth mic?
@loaked3000 Жыл бұрын
If anyone watching this there is a much easier way to install the stereo lol. Also if your element has a subwoofer, which most do, that wire harness won’t work and you need a different one to work with the factory amp. Metra 70-7863.

so use metal screwdrivers that can Marr the surface of the plastic?
@RebelliousHutterite22 жыл бұрын
Are you able to independently operate the factory subwoofer bass levels after installing this deck? I had best buy install my pioneer deck and the guy who did the install said I can't do that anymore. I don't remember why.. If I want to adjust the bass I have to adjust the bass that controls all of the speakers. :(

What about for a double din radio like a Pioneer AVH-P3200BT in an Element with the built in Sub. What is the wiring config for that. Plus is there any additional blackbox needed for anti-theft or door chime etccc. I had this stereo in my TrailBlazer and had to spend $100 for an adapter so all these things would still work and that truck was a 2002
@tomcat55986 жыл бұрын
Im pretty sure you hooked up your accessory wire to your antenna wire, are they not different? ones not the remote turn on for the amp? and ones antenna only? just curious... currently using video as reference and applying it.
@APDTY6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and thanks for the question, unfortunately none of us remember the wiring as we did this 3-4 years ago, the radio and all functions worked so it must be hooked up properly, this is one of our employee's vehicles now and it is still working well,

Any recommondations for a dim display? I have the dimmer on the head unit off, but I can't see my headunits display very well in the day. I have a 2003 Element like the one here, but mine has the preminum sound package from the factory (Would that make a difference?). I might be able to fabricate a small shroud to shade the display, but I'd like to hear any recommendations from you first.
@APDTY7 жыл бұрын
The car in the video is one of our own vehicles. The owner says that the dim display is a common complaint with the specific stereo head unit. His suggestion is to try switching the LED colors to just white, and that is the brightest setting he can get out of it.

Other than a bad radio or making sure the antenna wire is good (connected and wire not damaged) There is a Technical Service Bulletin issued for poor reception or static on this vehicle.
