So glad I found this youtube channel and your blog. I have one of these scooters and they are bullet proof, I used to thrash mine when I was 9 years old and try and do doughnuts on it by laying it down and standing up again. I'm going to order some basic parts from Ebay and try get mine running again when I go home for christmas!

I also got one for free, and it's been sitting around for years (at least 10 years). I drained the gas tank and put fresh gas in the tank and there was oil good enough for tuning. A service manual was handy, so I checked the carburetor and got it running after a half a can of starting fluid. Anyways, long story short, it will occasionally sputter and want to die if I slightly twist the throttle and I have to put the choke on to get it to idle right. Also, what kind of oil should I use?

Very informative. You bike needs an inline fuel filter with a magnet in it . My bike's cards used to get dirty like yours in no time . Till i replaced fuel line and added inline fuel filter with magnet . Please also do so and make a video about it also . Will help your engine run longer with a fuel filter .

hi this was a very nice video gave me all info regarding cleaning my 100cc scooter carb...i am new to repairing and getting into the machine...just need a little help regarding the fuel pipe and 2T motor oil pipe ...are they connected to the carb and when i pull it out will it spill the petrol all over...if yes...what shall i do to avoid it?...i have a kinetic honda scooter with 100cc engine

Is there a difference in the air filters model to model? I have a 78 and the filter has disintegrated. The replacements listed online are dated differently but they look like they would fit fine.

I just got a 1977 honda express , great condition. Almost excellent. I turned it on let it idle for a bit. And fuel started pouring out of the line . My question is I'm going to do what you did with your carb but my other question is what do you soak the air filter in??

Some 2 stroke oil or diesel . I use a 50-50 mix to soak my filters . And then squeese the excess out . I make my own foam filters from pieces of foam or scotch britr scrubber pads with foam

Are there any alternatives for the air box/air cleaner? I actually just bought 2 mostly complete bikes and 1 extra frame + engine. None of them have the full air box assembly, the bike currently going has no air filter at all. The other bikes that's not going at the moment just has a little air filter clamped on....is that alright to do with the other, or should I search for something else?

I know this is a long shot, but I have an 82 express that's blowing white smoke and only runs when choke is fully open. After a few seconds of riding it will stop smoking, but then will start once it sits idling for a little while.

And I mean CLOUDS of white smoke. Not a small amount. It also bogs down when initially accelerating, but runs normal after about 3-5 seconds of open throttle

I have a question, my moped uses up allot of fuel, its a 50cc piaggio nrg.. I do about 10Miles Per Gallon! that is just horrendous, I'm meant to be getting a good 60Mpg+ Do you know what is causing this and how I could fix it? Thanks in advance :)

Question if someone can answer , got a 79 honda express moped , was out riding ,stopped at a yard sale and left running ,then noticed ,gear oil coming out of drain hose,thought it was a gasket leak but it wasn't ,also how to fill gear oil and how much thanks

Gear oil coming out the overflow hose is normal, especially when it is really hot outside, or when you have been riding for a while and engine is hot, or if you filled with too much gear oil. Check manual for location of gear oil fill spot. It is on the front of gear box with big hex bolt. I believe manual says to fill a little before it overflows and comes out when on level surface. Any extra will just come out the overflow tube again. Sucks sometimes because the overflow oil gets on wheel and makes a mess. Good luck! 😃

wesley cora I would use some Liquid Wrench Penetrating Oil. I bet it is rusted/stuck in your carb. Apply some of that and leave it for like 20 minutes. Try using needle nose pliers to pull it out.
