It's not bad at all for how big a wing is still faster than the majority of cars in the street.

If you want to het good at lauching. Keep your RPM at peak torque And control the power to the back wheels with your clutch. And you van shift faster when you use the clutchless shifting tecnique

You did great! Being on a race track of any kind is intimidating for the first time. The guy with the comment about the power band maybe correct but I thought going to the redline was the way🤷‍♂️. And your shifts were good. I couldn’t really tell if you were but always go around the water if you aren’t going to do a burnout.

MM, short shift it a little the torque peak is where it pulls the best. The Goldwing likes to shift for the best speed around 4800 RPM. Just one old drag racer to a new drag racer, hahaha. Even at our age we have a "Need for Speed" Fun night.

You were redlining on each gear which may be a mistake. The wing developes it's best power at 5200 RPM and the power drops off on the way to redline so with the normal 500 RPM spread between gears you were not working with your best power. (5800 - 500 = 5300 You are possibly losing 8 - 10 HP) If you shift at 5200 you will stay in your power band and your ET should improve. At the 5800 redline you also run the chance of hitting the rev limiter which will kill your ET. Also, dump about 3 - 5 pounds of air pressure on your back tire to get a better grip and slightly lessen the tire diameter which helps as it changes your final drive ratio slightly. Just sayin.......

I get amused by the kids that think that running the engine up till the rev limiter cuts it off and think that is max power. When I hear one of those morons revving any engine till the rev limiter cuts off is the hot thing, all I can think of is 'ignorant'.

Where you were losing it was the takeoffs. Your shifts were not too bad but could be slipped a bit faster but still pretty darn good. Just work on your takeoffs. I don't go to redline and have found I can feel when I am out of the power band so I shift accordingly. But for first time not too bad at all.

Among other things, empty the bags and turn off everything you aren't using, no extra lights or radio, they run up the load on the engine. Small things but everything helps. Find the peak torque rpm in your owner manual, that's your shift point, it will be lower than the red line.

Fun vid! A couple observations and suggestions that may well put you over a ton through the traps: You staged pretty deep (kept rolling forward after the second yellow lit), and that can hurt your times. Your MPH were high for the ET, so you also may have been experiencing some wheelspin on launch. Couldn't tell if you were pulling through the water box, but if you're not doing a burnout, it is best to stay out of it. May try lowering your rear tire PSI a little for more grip off the line...just remember to air up before you hit the road for home. And try dropping your rear suspension to the softest setting to allow better weight transfer. I have yet to get my motorbike to the strip, but I used to race cages in the 1/4 down in Florida. Love to see you post a video with a triple digit trap speed!
