Hey Tony, When I got my Helix in 2018 with 22,000 miles on it I noticed the clutch shuttering on take offs so I decided to tear it down. The friction pads were worn and the bell inside surface was pretty bad too, the outside was visibly a blue-purple color indicating it had overheated at some point so I figured that everything was original and because I couldn't find a whole replacement unit that I would trust I would just replace every single part, bearing, spring, seals in the unit & the variator myself. I wanted all new original Japanese parts and nothing of Chinese lower quality which I've heard others say didn't last 7000 miles so I managed to find everything through Partzilla & Babbitts Honda online including a new belt and it was close to $600 for a complete replacement, but I didn't care because I wanted the Helix to be 100% road worthy for years to come. Everything on the driven face assembly that you were trying to disassemble has the same part numbers for all the '85-07 years but the friction pad assembly, parts & spring changed numbers in 2000, you can check the schematics on both these parts websites to review, I updated every part on my 1996 model to the 2000-2007 part numbers/specs including the driven face large spring because I heard that they were improved. The reason you couldn't remove the one half of the pulley is because the collar seal you were trying to remove does has to come off first in order to remove the 4 roller pins and guides behind it each spaced 90 degrees on the center shaft and keeps both pulley halves locked together. If it's running good now I would just enjoy riding it for the remainder of the season, and make any parts replacement a winter project as it took me several weeks to acquire everything I needed.

Having trouble finding the bearing inside for my clutch rebuild. I bought a Chinese replacement for now, but want to rebuild original clutch. My old bearings were shot really bad at 16k on a 1985 CH250 I had since new. Easy to get the seal and replacement clutch parts.

@@1tonysgarage I actually haven't subscribed yet. But as far as exhaust goes, I put a Harley pipe on it & is maneuverable if need be. So I could, in theory, put a larger tire? What about suspension? Since I'm a heavier rider, id like a bit more firmness. Also, watched ur roller weight video earlier, and I'm performing the roller weight reduction right now

Hi u need to remove the sleeve and there will be 3 pins u can remove and it all comes apart. It will need to be lubed to perform its best.

What kind of grease did you use? Your brake cleaner can was in front of the grease jar. Can’t see it.
