Oh my God I just got a 2019 Honda Civic hatchback version like a month ago, so OK five years old of course key is dying. I was like how am I gonna make it to work tomorrow if I don’t fix this because I didn’t get this notification on my dash till I was leaving work at midnight tonight, lmaoooo, I hope this works if I need it to hahaha.

You're still using the fob to start it.

Even if the fob is dead, it can still send a signal back to the car to start it up. It's just a weaker signal, which is why you need to hold it so close to the start button.

​@@FaFaFohieI think it's using some sort of NFC technology to detect the key fob. It would be like a credit card. I'm going to test this out by removing the battery from the fob...

But why do both of my key fobs in my 2-year-old HRV do this with new batteries in them? And then sometimes it says remote not detected. I'm losing my mind over this

This solution has failed to work for me. I have replaced the battery and it worked. 2018 Ridgeline seems to go through the batteries. I'll keep a spare in the car. This could be disastrous with no true backup option.
