Honda Insight Hybrid P1448 and P1634 code fix - Easy solution

Welcome to @AutoScholarwithMrB! Today we have this 2011 Honda Insight with two codes and problems with the 12 volt charging system.
P1448 Intelligent Power Module Fan Problem
P1634 Motor Power Inverter Signal Circuit Malfunction
The problem found was the cooling fan for the traction battery fan was defective. It was shorted out, causing fuse 53 in the dash mounted fuse box (IMA 2) to blow. That fuse controls signal going to the power inverter. This makes the car's 12 volt charging system malfunction and can drain the 12 volt battery.
This is a fairly quick fix that only takes basic tools to complete, and the most difficult part is removing the trunk trim. Trim tools and taking your time will aid in completing this job. My wife's '12 Insight just threw these two codes. I checked the fuse and it's blown. Going to order the fan motor part and replace it this week. Thanks for the video!!!

My honda fit hybrid 2011 battery charging light keeps coming on after we put in a new blower fan in main battery at that back. The ima light is now off and everything sames to be working well but the battery charging light keeps popping up now and then. I dont know what can be causing the error. Can you help

You should not have to do that for this repair.

My car had p1448 & had the fan and fuse replaced but it still did not function correctly all lights came back on and the battery was still not charging.

It could be an issue with the wiring or the inverter. It is hard to say without me seeing it in front of me.

Oh okay. Yes, my car doesn’t start up and has all the lights on including the abs, brake light, ima, battery, & check engine light. It will start if we jump start it but once it turns off it won’t start anymore

@@guadalupeguzman8337 same issue and found by honda dealer the cooling fan is faulty that trigger the inverter to stop and IMA disfunction leading to not charging the front 12v battery. You can isolate the fan and car will function normal but gor short journey until you find the fan and replace it. Hope that help u and others..
