Honda is a very honest decent branch. They make probably the best engines in the market for the mass consumer. Somewhat cheep inside but of good quality. What of use is one sparkling Italian design with their awfull reliability and high fuel consumption even for a small car.

I want a Mirage. Mitsubishi makes good cars, with great warranties, and instead of 15 grand on a Honda with more options standard than I want.. I can enjoy 50 MPG with a 10 year 100K warranty for $9995. Bring back a simple base model and DX Honda. I am sick of the bloated over equipped pricy cars they make these days.

I own a 2016 Honda Fit, bought in the USA, with a 1.5 l engine. In my own opinion, the European version with a 1.3 l engine has much less power, fewer dynamics on the road, and is not enough for my purposes. It is a "city" car, and when you need much speedy driving, you can be a little disappointed with the 1.3l engine's outcome. With a 1.5l DOHC engine, I feel comfortable almost on every type of road. I even climbed some Romanian mountains in my car (however don't think this car performs also well on off-road segments, it is not created for this kind of trip, so drive only where you see a solid road, even if it's not asphalt). If you want more dynamics from your Fit/Jazz, for example, when you need to bypass some cars on the road, don't hesitate to use S(port) mode on your CVT gearbox. You will see a difference between D(rive) and S(port) modes. For better performance use good tires, Summer/Winter, don't use All Season, change the oil/filters regularly (the car warns you when the oil should be replaced, usually after 5000 km (250 moto hours) or 1 year), change brake pads at 35000 km (or as needed), CVT oil at 50000 km, brake and coolant/anti-freeze liquids once in 2-3 years and enjoy driving!

Thanks Thomas for this review! I was one to ask for it! Nice review as always! I was the owner of the first generation Honda Jazz. I am a proffesional driver and I drive luxury class cars, but for me it was always a pleasure to jump in this my Jazz! It's not a perfect cas as no other is, but I think if you need a safe, economical, spacious and relaible car this is the best option ( in my opinion ) also with an excelent manual gearbox! All the other small cars excell in something: design, power, funny colours, a lot of engines but this Honda Jazz is the gold mid way in every aspect!

I recently purchaesed the Dynamic Version of the Honda Jazz (130 Horsepower). I am totally happy with this buy so far. Fuel consumptiom is exactly what Honda states (roundabout 5,8 litres per 100 kilometers) Good acceleration about 8.6 seconds from 0 to 100 Km/H, nice soundsystem plus the car handles like a scooter....I am absollutely satisfied so far!

Nice video as always. I had 2003 Fit 1.5L VTEC. It was good car! Large space, easy to drive, good acceleration. I tested to drive 2015 Fit last year. New Fit is not good acceleration, so not fun. But, of course, fuel economy is better.

I guess looks are subjective. I have loved the looks of the Jazz since the 2nd generation and I really love this 3rd gen. I enjoy your reviews very much. You are not overly critical or overly enthusiastic but just report the facts about the vehicle. I plan on purchasing a new Jazz next month and your review really helped. I took my wife to the dealer to see it as she wanted something bigger but it won her over. She couldn't believe how much room there was inside. We live in Cebu Philippines and it is very rare to go much over 60 kph here because there are no real highways so the CVT is perfect. Thanks for the review.

After watching the various reviews on the Jazz, I think I found Thomas' review to be the most comprehensive. I'm also 1.86 m, so I think this review is more suitable for me. I have tried the space in other cars, hatchbacks, SUVs, etc. and although they may be bigger than the Jazz, some really don't have the space like the Jazz does, be it driver's seat or the rear passenger seats. I had the 2nd generation Honda Fit and it had almost the same amount of space, but the current Jazz drives better, in my opinion. After test driving several cars, I bought the Jazz.

@@supernova1976 I'm still happy with my Jazz. I have a small family with two toddlers now, but the car still serves our needs. The boot is filled with two strollers, and although not much space left, we could still put in groceries, bags, etc. To be honest, I've thought of changing to a bigger car, but the crazy car prices here in Singapore made me drop the idea. So, I will stick to my Jazz. 😁

Thanks for the review. For me it also saved some reading of the instruction book. A comment on this version of Jazz is that at least for the Swedish market Honda has understood that they should also import the Elegance version. This version with a higher level of features and functions is in my mind a good way to attract buyers who also have a larger car. (In my case a Volvo V70, mostly used for long trips including with a caravan and when in Germany with the car alone I like to drive it at speed over 160 km/h or over 100 Mph when traffic, road and weather permits it). I have chosen the Jazz for city driving in the Stockholm area. This means that speed limits in built up areas are between 30 and 60 km/h and between 70 and 110 km/h on motorways in the area. I earlier had a 2008 Jazz and a 2010 KIA Venga that I traded in for the new Jazz. Based on that experience the quality of the old Honda was far superior to that of the KIA and had it not been for the 7 year guarantee that KIA offers in Sweden, then it would have been a costly affair.

Thank you for the review. It's a very good multi-purpose car, very well built but does not shine in anything really, well, except in reliability and cost of ownership. My mother of 88 loves it for the ease of driving, the CVT and the spaciousness for 4 adults + any luggage we like to have with us. The average fuel consumption is quite good if you know how to anticipate perfectly in busy traffic. My overall average over 23.000 kms is only 1 on 22,86 km (4,37 ltr/100 km). But I mostly drive in Sport mode as I prefer matching rpms in fixed gear ratios. Only when I'm really lazy, I use Drive mode. ;-)

Looks way better than the new one, go buy this second hand, will last forever! and get the manual, smooth gear shift, and if you need the power just rev it to 6000 rpm and then you will find that the small engine gets quite adequate for merging even in on a Italian high way full of mad men! Most of the time I do city driving, don't need huge trunk anymore - plus - I need car with solid build quality. Clearly quality of modern cars was “optimised” in a bad way, it just not feels solid anymore. I had GD1 Honda first gen, and now have second gen 2010 Fit. And I just see how they started to make it cheaper (paint work, not so soundproof etc) compare to first gen I had. I just have one feeling to get rid of it, and find some old low mileage previous generation

Hi Thomas This is just my Opinion but here goes. The reason the name "Fit" works in the US and Canada is because we have bigger vehicles in general, and the Fit is impressively big inside. So in a country where they compete against such large vehicles. Fit makes you think it won't be too small, also Jazz is a little whimsical and not serious. Honda's Reputation in North America is the "VERY PRACTICAL CHOICE". Please let me know if you agree or not?

Way late to the party here, but I see the rear bumpers are almost flush to the body there. US (Canada too?) models have rear bumpers that stick out more. It probably has something to do with regulations, and not needing to make it shorter than 4 meters in the US.

My Honda Jazz, of the same version as tested, the Elegance, has got two reverse lights. On some cars of other makes and on their continental versions, for right hand traffic, have the reverse light in the taillight assembly on the right and the same section on the left assembly has a red glass for the strong mist/fog rear light. (And I assume it is the other way around for UK and Ireland).

Thanks Thomas, I think your reviews are fantastic. We bought the Daughters Car based on your review and are now looking for a small car to Replace a 2008 polo TDI. A very hard car to replace with its amazing mpg but also DPF problems due to round town use. Can you suggest any other small similar cars and Not a Ford. Nice 2Cv they just don't cut the mustard any more though!

May I ask if the 'reach' or 'rake' of the steering wheel can be adjusted?

In Australia we get the Jazz with both the 1.3 and 1.5 litre engines with manual or CVT. Most of our Hondas are made in Thailand, where are Hondas for the German market made?

Certain models are made in the US as well, like the non-station Civic.

I live in Sweden and I took delivery of my Jazz in early June and it has a manufacturer plate stating "Made in Japan". It was built in Japan in February 2016 and then the car spent a couple of months onboard a ship to Europe.

It was originally supposed to be called Fitta but they came up with Jazz bc Fitta is an inappropriate word in one language.

Fitta (Fit) is in Norwegian, (where children come out of ladies = pu..y in English)

What was pulled up alongside of you at 20:46?

+Autogefühl more like at 20:33. That small bubble looking red car that pulled along side. I have never seen that in the States.

Even though I don't like Jazz, it still sounds better than Fit. In the US I believe it's marketing to show that it's a bigger car than some mid sized cars(as a lot of cars here are bigger), but I don't get why it's called that in Japan
