I fixed mine. I swapped the battery but that did not fixed the issue. So what I did was I put the key into the ignition and start the car, while the car is on, press lock and unlock multiple times till the light turn off. Then it should be fixed

perfect solution, worked for me... I was getting the solid red light on the key fob so I put in a new battery and was still getting the solid red light when I pressed buttons... So i started the car, started pressing buttons on the fob, solid red, waited a couple seconds, then pressed a few buttons again solid red, and then the buttons started displaying the red light only when I pressed, and the solid never came back... turned the car off, and the fob works again!!! thanks AllGasNoBrakes !!

Hello everyone! My sisters key was having this issue so I took the battery out. I didnt have WD40 but i pushed the buttons several times and put the key back together and it worked. I think the buttons are the main cause of the red light with dust and dirt.

Replaced the battery, but the red light was still on. Tried pressing the keys without WD 40 with no success. Opened the case back up and blew air under the button compartment. Tried it and problem fixed! Thank you for your advice!

WD 40 worked for me. I was having the same red light issue shown in video. I sprayed it in total 4 times on the button side. Pressed the buttons and it started to work.

Many thanks! WD-40 did the trick. I sprayed it on and started pushing the buttons. I could the horn through the garage door! Yeah! Had to spray a few more times, as it would only lock. Now it opens and locks!

I put a small spray of wd40 on a paper towel and had a dry sheet as well. I wiped the buttons and pushed them down until they make a clicking sound. I put the battery in and back piece, pushed all buttons for 2 seconds, and it worked and programmed itself.

Okay so if you guys are dealing with the RED LIGHT when your key is acting up (ours was a 2018 civic and the windows went down, didn’t wanna lock) we reprogrammed the key by pressing the lock and unlock buttons while the key is NOT in the ignition. But do try in the ignition if that doesn’t work.

2014 Honda CR-V - new battery did not fix the problem. I then used WD40 like he described and after a couple of squirts and button pushing, it works perfectly!

I was having this issue, and i took it apart took out the pcb and took it out of the fob case, and cleaned the buttons with ipa. my key fob no longer just locks. thank you. at first i thought i had to reprogram my keyfob but it was locking the car still so it was still programed to the cars frequency. it just needed a little cleaning. oddly thought the pcb was mint looked like it came out of the factory. Not sure if it was the cleaning or freeing up the buttons. either way it works now.

Here's my experience. I replace the battery and still does not work. I have to drain the battery down to 3V in order for it to work. When I test brand new battery voltage is about 3.3V. I then drain it slightly using my voltmeter battery checker and get it down to 3V. Guess what, it then works. I've had to do this on Honda and Toyota key fobs. I'm guessing the fob has a voltage regulator that won't allow it to work if the voltage is too high.

I replaced the battery...1620....I could hear the locks trying to work, but they wouldn't lock. The light would flash once, then stay on about 8 secs....I just started hitting the lock /unlock...lock/unlock...did that probably 30 times...sometimes I would hold the lock down a few seconds long....then the lock/unlock again....and it started working.....don't know how long it will last.

@eatmysh0rts i was holding it in my hand, actually sitting in my kitchen when i thought i heard the horn honk. I actually was pissed off by this point trying all of the different ways on line. So i figured either it world work or i would break it. I just kept hitting lock unlock with a frenzy for a minute or longer. So i actually dont know what the combination to getting it to work was. Just try it like i did....lock unlock as fast as you can, as many times as you can.

@@eatmysh0rts mine is still working...haven't had a problems since...i had tried so many turn on accessory...hit this once, cut it off and hit that twice kinds of combinations...i was super pissed off and about 3 secs from throwing it in the floor and stomping it until it was in pieces. Glad it worked for you. Now i dread ever having to go thru it again !!

I used a baby wipe and squeezed it on top of the buttons and wiped it until the buttons worked. Same thing I do with my Xbox controller when my kid leaves the buttons sticky.

Hi All, I had the similar issue with key fob for my Accord 9 2013. The issue is causes by failed button on circuit board inside the key fob. Just replace the wrong button inside. The issue gone after the button were replaced

There is a lot of things that could be. It could be as simple as the door still open or the trunk and for this reason it won’t lock the car… or it might need to be reprogram! Sometimes we press the key while it is in our pocket and there is a key in some cars, there is a key secuencie that will erase the key programming! Also key bottom might be going out!i will upload more videos about trouble shooting this issues. I am very good on this

No. That's not the reason. If you did that, you might just waste a good battery. I'd had the problem for years, and I've finally found the reason and fixed it. The reason is that YOU MUST HAVE DROPPED THE KEY. The drop shook the circuit board inside the key fob OUT of its position. To fix it, there are two ways (the second way is the sure way): 1. Press the LOCK button with strength. This might push the front end (toward the key tip) of the circuit board down so that the front end and the rear end (opposite to the key tip) would be EVEN. But this way might NOT fix the problem well. 2. The best is to open the key, and press the rear end (opposite to the key tip) of, or all around, the circuit board to make the circuit board EVEN. Either way would take the pressure off the frond end of the circuit board against the lock button.

If the key has already been programmed for your vehicle, put the key in the ignition, turn to on position (II) wait one second. Press and hold lock for one second, wait on second and turn to off position. Repeat the process 4 times and it should be reprogrammed to unlock your doors

Do not put wd40 in your keys it's not water proff ND wd40 attracts dirt and u start getting that in your ignition your going to gum it up. And then u have to call me a licensed locksmith to come fix your cheep key repair and pay 10x more
