Thanks, guys. Just got finished replacing my tie rod. Was able to follow your great video each step of the way. Saved about $150 doing it myself. I really appreciate it. Would have been so much harder without the video.

Would it be possible to get a link to the individual parts or replacement kit used? Or do you have a brand recommendation?

🍔🍟 IF YOUR WORKING ON THE PASSAGER SIDE JUST TURN YOUR WHEEL ABOUT HALF WAY TO THE LEFT YOU CAN STILL GET THE TIRE OFF AND IT BRINGS THE INNER TIE ROD OUT TO YOU!!!! I USED A SMALL PIPE WRINCH TO BREAK IT FREE VERY EASY!!!! 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY 😃

Nice video. Did you install a new boot? I can't clamp the inner side of the boot so I used pipe clamp. If you used the original equipment clamp, would you let me know how can you access to the clamp? Because of the exhaust pipe, I can't access that space. If there is any tip, it will be very helpful for me.

Okay guys, thanks for doing the video, but I think the most important part is showing people how to put it back together, reminding them to bend the washer, and telling him to use a tie rod tool to get it done right. Pipe wrench? Seriously? Torque specs?

I’m trying to buy a inner tire rod tool. What adapter do I need to fit these tire rods. ?

Just rent one at a local auto parts store for free. Mine took one size to take the old one off and a different size to put the new one in

You never mentioned the torque specifications for the inner tie rod and the castle nut on the outer tie rod end.

desautomatix I replaced the inner tie rod arm yesterday and am getting an alignment tomorrow. The threads are not exactly the same on the new part so my steering is slightly off. It still shakes a bit when breaking but I'll let you know the verdict once its aligned.
@videostothepoint86716 жыл бұрын
After replacing the inner tie rod and getting an alignment the shaking is much better than it ever has been, especially while braking. It was a fairly straight forward repair and a relatively inexpensive part from RockAuto.com. I'd suggest doing this repair if either of your front wheels make the sound you hear at the beginning of this video when they are up off the ground.

Video is a nice start, but you don't show the install. I know its just "reverse of removal" but you completely avoid the miserable task of trying to set the inner boot clamp! ANYONE ATTEMPTING THIS: there is absolutely no room in there to get a set of single ear clamp pliers to pinch that OEM clamp shut. 360 degrees of "nope, the damned thing won't fit!" I suggest A) use a set of side cutters flat end down to pinch it shut. Just be very careful not to go so hard you cut through it. It is pretty robust though. Try cutting the old one with the cutters first to see how much force you can apply before it cuts through. B) Use an old school screw type hose clamp. Not as pretty, has a tiny place where the overlap is that is not 100% sealed but it is better than an OEM not set at all! C) I've heard of people using a nylon zip tie strap. I guess this would work but I personally wouldn't have used this method. (I used the side cutters - worked great). Hope that helps!!!

Mechanic told me they would have to remove my rack and pinion and reprogram it to replace my inner tie rod...... told me it would cost over $700 for that alone.
