I working with Honda for a loooong time and I could tell you did a GREAT JOB. Some people even don't want to change their oil (10-15 min job) it because they don't know, but lazy. You are very good at it. Thank for the video

Loved the kid in the background. Got the ATF and power steering cooler installed on my 2007 Odyssey. The hardest part of the install for me was getting the ATF feed tube off (I finally cut it to get it loose) and getting those re-used clips back into the splash guard and bumper. Tip: just buy new ones like you did! I'll be heading to the Honda dealership tomorrow to pick up a bag. Thanks for the vid.

Love the daughter helping! Problem I had was putting the brackets from the tubing (the ones behind, not in front of the radiator) onto the plastic radiator housing. Drove me nuts.

Thank you for giving me the motivation to try this myself. Saved me over $1000, not without problems, but well worth it. Did buy LOTS of clips.

Awesome video! Definitely will save this when I need to put those two coolers on. Your daughter is just like mine. ALWAYS helping me with the car or asking question lol So cute! Thanks for the video!

Thanks. It would have taken just one day but I had not thought about needing new clips. I had to wait several days to reattach the bumper. I'm sure the time depends on your comfort level too...a mechanic could do it in a few hours. I had to replace all of the power steering fluid. (There is special fluid for Hondas) I replaced/lost very little ATF. (I even had the local oil change folk check to make sure I was right.)Side note:They tried to tell me my fluid was brown when it was pink. Scammers!

Thanks so much for the video and the job takes longer to get all the plastic clips off the hoses than the rest of the job. Mike

+Wellington Jeffries Thanks , It is also a pain if you choose NOT to use the PS cooler , as the old PS tube must be bent out of the way. Mike

Thank you for this. I definitely will pay to get it installed. Your video was extremely comforting to know I am not throwing away money by paying someone. I just don't have the time or place to take this on myself. Thx much!

hey thanks for taking the time to make this vid. I like how patient and kind you are with your daughter, I do the same with my kids as I love them so. Anyway, I was wondering what kind of torque wrench you used as I need to pick one up. I like the style (like the one you used) that clicks at proper torque. Could you let me know when you can? Thanks in advance and thanks again for the this very helpful information!

Thanks for the great video. I want to add a cooler and inline filter to my 01 odyssey before the transmission fails. Glad you left in the parts interacting with your daughter. Helps me to remember to be patient when attempting something new

+Wellington Jeffries Hi,It took all day yesterday. I started by removing and replacing the screened gasket under the torque converter solenoid valve. The smaller of the two screens had material on it. Next ,pulled the feed tubes from the clutch pressure control solenoid and cleaned the screens in the tubes. Then installed a magnafine filter in the return line from the radiator back to the trans. So far no leaks. I didn't add a cooler as we aren't pulling anything. Again I appreciated your patient interaction with your daughter while you were in the middle of the job. I tried to be better at not letting little interruptions get the better of me. Thanks for your example.
@leealison202010 жыл бұрын
it is a good idea to install a inline ATF filter on the "return line" hose.(the shortest hose comes in the kit.) the space could be a little tight but you will be able to change the filter every 30k (when you drain and refill the ATF.)

Thanks. Here are the part #'s from HandA. If you shop there, look for the ATF Cooler in the exterior accessories section. (Copied from their site) ATF Cooler Kit (sold separately) P/N 06255-RGL-305, Heavy-Duty P/S Cooler Kit (sold separately) P/N 53765-SHJ-325, Air Duct (sold separately) P/N 71105-SHJ-A01. Hope that is what you wanted/needed. Good Luck.

Great video.. would I have to flush the transmission and power steering fluid? Or just replenish it?
@wellingtonjeffries290811 жыл бұрын
I bought a small torque wrench at Autozone that has adjustments in inch/pounds instead of foot/pounds. (Quick unit conversion was used.) It is a Duralast with numbers 79-141, which I assume is a model number, but I'm not sure. Thanks for watching and for the nice comments. Good Luck!

Zero difference when driving. The car will function exactly the same...minus the transmission fluid being cooled. I am just doing everything I can to keep the transmission healthy for as long as possible. Good luck.

Well this is a long shot for an answer on a 10 year old post, but does the power steering pump cooler need to by changed so the AT cooler will fit correctly?

Hi Mike, I bought the parts online at HandA.com, but I'm sure you could get them at any Honda dealer. I show where I bought the clips in the video and which ones to get. Good luck! My van is still running great.

@@wellingtonjeffries2908 hello I know it was a real long time ago but I have a 2 questions. Were those parts original honda parts or after market, and When you connected the cooler to the system, did you add the tranny cooler in series with the radiator (so the fluid went through both the radiator and cooler) or did you by-pass the radiator and connect the cooler directly to the transmission. Thanks for your possible reply Michael Heit
@HoboWhisperer Жыл бұрын
@@mheit61It looks like the ATF goes from the transmission to the new cooler, then to the OE radiator cooler, then back to the transmission.

thank you for shooting this great video. I am kinda wondering, is it worth to install this ATF cooler kit solely for better overheat protection? (we don't tow at all.) At 100k, I would like to do some preventional upgrade on top of regularly ATF drain and refill. if install by DIY, it 's about $300 but if tranny is fried that's $3000...
@wellingtonjeffries290810 жыл бұрын
I'm not a mechanic, but your math seems like it's you in a certain direction. In theory, the cooler seems logical, but you may be wasting $300 if you really don't need it. I would ask a professional...someone who isn't trying to sell one to you. Good luck.
@molisa768410 жыл бұрын
Wellington Jeffries I've installed the exact honda cooler kit, ps cooler kit and air duct last weekend, took me 3 hours, I also flush the ps fluid since I got there. I may waste $300, but for a $300 insurance if it's gonna help the transmission last another 20k-30k, I wouldn't be happier. again, thank you for your kind video, it helps me a lot and all kit is directly bolted in, very easy to install, I should've put an inline filter on the ATF return hose, but I could add it anytime.
@ajames232311 жыл бұрын
Fantastic video! Thanks for posting it. Two questions though, how long did it take you start to finish? Also how many quarts of ATF and Power Steering fluid did you end up using to replace what was in the lines? Thanks again!
