Thanks for these videos. The RDX k23 has always been a bit of a unicorn. Red headed step child if you will. I service 3 or 4 different ones regularly and they are a blast to drive.

This is gonna be interesting. I used to have an Rdx and always believed the k23 was best left in that chassis due to lack of manual transmission unless someone made an adaptor plate for it to fit a k20.

FWD K23 with the K20 turbo Accord 10AT? Will it work with an adaptor plate?
@Abu_Teazy3 жыл бұрын
One could essentially use the K23 engine with an all wheel drive CRV or element transmission with an adapter plate, and do a RWD conversion using any of the AWD kits out there and use a differential from a RWD car. you could also install the drags full to lighten up the weight on the ring gear. I’m sure this isn’t cost-effective what I have talked about here but it definitely would be unique

From what I heard, the K23 is designed to use the Honda V-6 style transmission. Have you guys tried seeing if the 6 speed manual from the Accord V-6 or the Acura TL 6 speed manual fits on there?
@VTECAcademy3 жыл бұрын
It uses a transmission that is similar internally, not externally. The bell housings are totally different. Also, the starter mounts on the transmission on J and engine on K.

Same here, just picked up a MINT pearl white 08 a week ago for the family hauler and it is wonderful! I watched these tech inspection videos when they dropped, I would think keeping the k23 in the RDX best bang for buck would be the k24 9th gen civic head with its cast in exhaust manifold to a bigger turbo but here Brian is taking the RDX head/turbo setup and putting it onto the K24 block (for a budget turbo setup). Engine management may be the issue with the K24 head though? Maybe Brian knows if flashpro could still handle that combination? TBH for what I want the car to do it is absolutely enough power/torque. I've been running "torque app" on android to scan the OBDII and I saw a peak of 15.5PSI which I read it should peak at 13.5PSI stock. This thing is bone stock and serviced only by Acura so I'm 99.9% sure it isn't running a hondata reflash... Thoughts anyone?

@@lcq4blackstar for my purposes I can use a Hondata KPro or KTuner to control the turbo like you would if you were controlling nitrous.
