Honda P50 - Engine test bench (HD)

It is very difficult to mount the engine on a Honda P50/25 bacause you need to unmount the backwheel. Instead of connecting it to the moped every time to see if it works, I have builded this engine stand. Now i am sure that the engine works 100% right.

I test my go-kart engine with two rollers taken from a exercise machine, welded up about 8 inches parallel to each other. On one end I place the rear tire of my car with the car jack holding up some of the weight of the car. On the other end the go-kart tire. If I want some load I lower the car, take some air out of the tire and or a helper can pull the emergency brake slightly. This way I can tune the engine with out ever going out to the road.

I love your work. I have been restoring my P50 and having troubles. The engine starts easily with the choke pulled out but i have to keep the choke pulled out to keep it running and it idles too high. I have tried adjusting the air and gas screws without much success. .the plug looks good.I have cleaned the carb and feel it is okay. All suggestions will be appreciated. Thankyou. Hello, Nice to see such engine rebuild so nicely. Have you come across 62cc piston for the P50 ? Does it really improve performances, at least tork ?

Hello JapaneseClassic Great! This is what I am looking for. I recently startet to restore a P50 and I confirm, it is laborious to work on the engine. can I buy your P50 Engine test bench? Or do you have a simple drwing or sletch with the main dimensions? BR Matthias

I am attempting to reset the points and it is a challenge. According to the shop manual the points should just be starting to open when the F mark on the flywheel lines up with the index mark on the crank case. This appears to happen. I cannot tell if the points are opening to the .012-.014 in. Any suggestions would be helpful. Chuck
