48,000 miles on a V4 1300 is just about run in. If you consider a four cylinder petrol car can do in excess of 250,000 miles these days then that mileage wouldn’t worry me. There’s an ST1100 sat in a bike garage in Dunfermline and he reckoned it had 200,000 plus on the clocks. It looked well used mind but it still ran well. My CBF 1000 has just 14,000 at 12 years old so it will be a while before I can make excuses to the other half about changing for something else. Got to say I fancy something like this thought. Enjoy Best regards Scoots

You wanted to know why the left hand glove box was so shallow it is because the RDS radio unit is installed in there a metal plate is the put on top to protect it. My bike is 02 Amazon green too with the same upgrade as yours although I have cruise control as well.

Lovely bikes the Pans, I have ridden these and the RT's , GTL etc, but I went for the Trophy, same as your old one. No problems so far with it. I actually felt it was lighter than the other bikes but possibly that was just me although kerb weight wet for Pan with ABS is 327 kg, Trophy only 301 kg again wet. I say only .....as we both know anything over 300 kg is heavy. Love the videos and ride safe. Cheers David.

Nice bike Mark, I think it was the Police that found the high speed wobble after one of its officers were killed. I believe the Police introduced a 100mph speed limit on the forces bikes ? The Welsh constabulary sold all their MK1s and replaced with a later version

Gas Guzzler I had been told that to by a paramedic work friend who knew about it as they also had the same limit imposed He still rides his st1100 lol Thanks for watching bud and your comment Mark

The front generates lift at high speed and the arse dives a little bit which is where the weave is supposed to come from. Adding a little down force to the front and stiffening the rear suspension is supposed to cure the problem. The police bike does have some mechanical differences and the change was to some cross link chassis stiffening rod.

Another ST owner stated that the wobble was due to placing heavy articles in the top box or “boot” on your side of the pond. I also viewed another video on how to respond should any motorcycle begin to wobble......simply “lay down”, as if trying to decrease the wind resistance one’s body creates when sitting up right.

Lovely bike. Can the panniers come off?
@marksavage

yes they do and the rear box but this one had lights in it so would have to disconnect them first , only thing to be honest without the panniers on it looked a little odd as they are shaped in to the bike

Just purchased a red one with a lot of extras and low k,s. Full history and almost new tyres. Looking forward to that next long ride. Brother has a blue one and rode around Aus last year, no problems and still had tread on the tyres when he got home, though they were pretty square.

Too right - costs a packet to service - two services a year, intermediate and full. Full service can cost an arm and two legs. That is the big downside, that and the lack of any electronics on the machine.
@Jodyrides
@Jodyrides 3 жыл бұрын
The heat coming off of this engine/radiator pours over the rider making it very uncomfortable to ride if the temperature is about 65°. Forget about riding this bike if it’s over 80°. I went to test drive an ST 1300 at the end of August, 2021. Original owner, beautiful condition low miles many extras .. I told the seller I would not be right back on the test drive, I told him I would be gone around an hour at least. I got 15 minutes away, just long enough for the engine to get fairly warm, I started feeling the heat on my legs. I had sport bike street boots on, Kevlar jeans, mesh jacket, deerskin gloves, modular helmet.. I was on back roads, sunny day, 85°, no stop signs, no traffic lights. Averaging about 50 miles an hour on a winding tree wind through the country smooth road. Nice ride, nice power, the engine was not nearly as smooth as I thought it would be. Of course I had just sold my GL 1800 Goldwing two months ago, so maybe I’m a little jaded about what is smooth and what is not. I was not lugging the engine.. oh and I got 15 minutes out and felt that heat, that made my mind up right there. I turned around and took the machine back, it was hotter then..The machine had aftermarket foldout highway pegs, I put my feet out on them to get more pooling on my legs, and the opposite happened, I was getting more heat on my legs from the exhaust heat air ducts on the faring pouring the heat on my legs. What a pity
@clivewyatt6189
@clivewyatt6189 2 жыл бұрын
I got some after market heat deflectors pushes the heat from the engine out through the back stops the heat coming out from the sides works a treat. Yes your correct you are jaded you can’t get anything smoother than a Goldwing, although the latest version is a little rough around 60mph in top.

Hi bud. I have probably one of the most modded pans you will find. A couple of unusual mods i did was a rear lower shelf behind the numberplate for a tent with strap on spare number plate and i gutted the underseat to make it much bigger and be able to access the bulbs from under the seat. Lastly i made a ply plate that hop swaps with the box to carry bigger stuff. I have a video about it on my channel but also more details i the fb group under the file section called st1300 mods. main stuff to change or add is front and rear fenda extenda and rad guard. over dash sat nav mount so you dont look down and short sport screen for the summer. I would go with a bluetooth intercom a quadlock phone mount modded above the dash and waze on your phone which is better than a sat nav. remove the radio in the pocket and insulate the pocket and install soft foam and a twin usb socket to charge your phone. for lights change the bulbs to led natgic match the colour to the lens dont use white and for the headlights novsight led for £30 on amazon the silver ones will blow you away with cutoff and power

I have the same bike (65k and running great) - friends say it is black or blue but the VLC says green? It is not green. I would call it metallic blue. On another note, how did you find the Trophy versus the Pan - was it very heavy seriously?

the colour is odd but i did like it lol, as for the trophy i really liked the bike and theres a video on me going to the isle of wight and it rode very well ,weight is the same but when full of fuel and luggage she is top heavy but still rides very well i have it over the pan , theres a few videos on the trophy on my channel worth watching plus an mk1 pan which i also liked
