Interesting what you say about the weight ... My wife has just traded in her XV950 (Bolt) for the CMX500 Rebel ... 60kg difference! Power to weight difference negligible, so happy days. Good review (as always) It is the same engine as the 500X, but the bhp claims are slightly different for some reason.

@ripmax333
@ripmax333 7 жыл бұрын
you really have to decide what looks do you prefer, if the racer look or a bobber style. advantages of the bobber is that the aftermarket for this bike will be huge, you can really make it your own. but for a racer style bike not so much. the 500 engine is a really huge plus for me, I once had a CB500F 2013 and what i miss most from that bike is that engine, it's torque was great, it;s just pulls very well for it's size, very easy to maintain, for the valve clearance check you don't need to remove the camshafts so for the average mechanic it shouldn't be any problem to check the valve specs. on the r3 i don't know what's involved but it should be a solid engine, what I do know that the 500 engine sounds awesome with just a slip-on exhaust. on my CB I had a LeoVince slip-on and the 270deg firing interval sounded great. you also have to consider what type of riding is you thing, sporty or relaxed and enjoying the ride, but still can be plenty fun. remember that although it a cruiser type it's still has decent ground clearance. good luck whatever you choose.

Very good review. I laughed as you said Kawasaki earlier and then later Yamaha. :) In North America you can get either a Rebel 500 or Rebel 300. Both have 'optional' ABS. I think they should have just defaulted to having ABS, but whatever. I think the rear pillion seat is optional not standard here. It does look very cool. I sat on one about a month ago and I'm 5'9"; felt okay but the cruiser positioning is somewhat odd ...an odd feeling. Again, good review and thanks for posting!

Great review. I saw your one on the Kawasaki Vulcan S too. I am going to check both bikes out on Monday as I am very interested in both, but cannot test ride until I pass my full test (I only have my CBT and ride a 125). But I'm curious, how did you find the two compare? My biggest concern with a 500 like the Rebel is that I might not get as much "fun" once I get used to the bike as say a 650 like the Vulcan. But the Rebel is a gorgeous looking bike IMO and I am very happy with the quality of my current Honda.
@greekonmoto4393

Well if you want to have fun you should look into cbr500r, bikes like vulcan and rebel are meant for cruising and relaxed rides, Vulcan and cbr 500r are almost identical as far as 0-100 goes but vulcan isn't that much fun at twisties.
@sae2705
@sae2705 7 жыл бұрын
My problem is that I want both...well....to some degree as odd as it seems, fun, but not a crotch rocket. I want a light cruiser that handles well by cruisers standards and also can be fun to ride if I do want to put power in. At least in giving it thought and looking at my options, I believe that's the kind of thing I want to get out of riding. So I want something relaxed that I can also have fun on. So the Vulcan S attracted me because it shares an engine with the Ninja, but tuned to the low-mid torque range to be suitable for cruiser, but still seems light and easy to handle and get a bit more "oomph" when needed and therefore less like standard cruisers (and the other Vulcans). And it seemed to put a smile on Cager's face during his test ride. The Rebel 500 seems suitable for cruising too, though of course is more of a bobber style, keeps the relaxed ride but in a more neutral position versus normal cruisers. But sounds like it lacks that extra oomph when needed. I may end up taking my next bike on the motorway when I go to visit friends in other parts of the country. I know both can handle the speeds. However, I am interested at least with how the two compare. But good to know about the 0-100 on the Vulcan & CBR500R, twisties, I think I am going to expect on a cruiser anyway, which I am okay with.

I purchased the Rebel 3 weeks ago. Love it. I was looking for the same things you listed above, and the Rebel delivered. Like Cager said, it's great for around town, enjoying a longer cruise, and commuting. It's not a sports bike, but it's not trying to be one. Looks cool, engine is butter smooth, and has good power when you need it.

Shaurya Kumar Gautam third class bikes. Poor maintenance, poor performance, poorest handling. Only popular in India because of showoffs with less money. Only one thing that is good is they are relatively much more comfortable than the bikes available in India for both the rider and the pillion. By available I mean, in the similar price range. But I would also like to know his opinion as he gives a really detailed but no nonsense review.
@kundankumar777
@kundankumar777 6 жыл бұрын
ekim andersom I never said anything about modern or classic. My review was based on four parameters namely: performance, handling, maintenance and comfort. So, you basically only disagree with me on handling. That is not Total Bullshit. You kind of hyperventilated there? Coming to handling, the main two features of handling is its turning performance, and braking. They help one weave through the traffic easily. Both of these are worst in Royal Enfield bikes, compared to even much cheaper bikes in India. Finally, yes, I am talking about Indian version but highly doubt the engine and build and also design are different in export models.

In fact I don't think I've ever seen a woman riding anything but a scooter. Also, a woman would look terrible riding a cruiser in my opinion.
