Honda Shadow Spirit 750 Riding on Gravel Road | How To Ride a Beginner Motorcycle on Gravel

Going down a gravel road on a Honda Shadow 750.
So here we are, on a gravel road. Some key tips: Watch where you are going. Watch for pot holes. Watch your speed in the corner. You will feel the bike underneath you and what it is doing. Don't lock your arms. Be sure you are comfortable. Do not apply too much break too fast. Start out slow until you are comfortable and can ride at a safe pace.

Thanks man just bought a bike a couple days ago and i live down a quarter mile of nothing but gravel so I have no choice other than not ride at all but I aint gonna let gravel stop me from enjoying a motorcycle.

Sweet! Yeah, just take it slow and you should be good. Keep an extra close eye on your tires as gravel will chew them up a bit more. Same with of you have a belt or chain. Getting rocks in them can cause some havoc. If you are shaft driven, no worries there! Happy riding, man! Ride safe! ✌🏼

Gravel is bad news! Some years ago I was heading home at night after a long "Poker Run" and the pavement ran out to gravel. At 45 or 50 mph hitting it was not fun. I just let off the gas and dropped down a couple of gears....but I was all over the place but did not go down. Said a thank you prayer and went slow in first gear till I got off of it. I hate gravel. Take care....ride safe.

Those are scary situations! I have had similar instances happen to me where they patched a paved road with gravel. You do just like you said, ease through it and hold on! If you are intending on riding on gravel it is one thing, but unexpected gravel is another thing. Thanks for watching! ✌🏼

Good vid! Aside from my drive way the only gravel road I ended up on was high in the middle and sloped down on the sides. Kept pulling me down to the edge. It was a horrible mile ride.

Gravel sucks. But when you must travel on gravel, it’s best to minimize braking and work on balance. If you must slow down, gradually reduce spread and avoid any sudden movements in weight or direction. Nice video. :)

Riding on gravel/dirt is a good tool to have, but I wouldn’t look to do it regularly on a cruiser or touring bike, they are not made for it. 😊

In the event a person comes up on gravel, it’s good to know how to handle things, but I agree. I definitely wouldn’t be taking the gravel roads everywhere you go unless you had a bike for it. Thanks for watching and commenting!

They can all do gravel, but you just want to take it easy. An ADV bike or a dirt bike would be good. I have ridden my Shadow and Road King on gravel many times. I just slow it down. Great comment. Thanks for watching!
