I'm back from the Hospital. I had a stroke in February 2019. One of my dreams was to get back on the racetrack. 1991 was my last track day on a racetrack in Stillwater Oklahoma at the Hallet Raceway when I worked for the Gebhardt BMW racing team. This video is me practicing with the motorcycle and getting a feel for the track again in Shelton Washington at the Ridge Motorsports. I was a little nervous and is Part 1 of 3 videos.
Here is Part 2 FAST:
Part 2 FAST here: • Honda ST1300 Race Trac...
Part 3 FASTER with Booster Plug here; • Honda ST1300 Race Trac...

Hello Touring Jedi... Thanks for watching :>).. Did you see "Part 2"? I was on the track for 4 hours with 3 previous 20 minute races/training. Part 2 video is the last 12 minutes. After the race I almost past out from heat-stroke. I turned off the video just before having to lay down in the trailer for 30 minutes with ice packs around my neck.. Just got my '08 lo-mileage ST. I'm surprised the track techs didn't insist you tape up the mirrors. In track days I've done, streetbikes had to remove or tape up all glass / turn signals / breaky bits. Some require safety wiring as well - brake bolts, oil drain plugs, etc. Nonetheless, glad to see your video and an ST (P-E) get to stretch its legs. Thanks for this!

Hello mark, thank you for watching. You also bought one of the best motorcycles out there. You are correct on the track tape, part 1 of part 2 they told us we didn't have to for this certain tract time we had. However part 2 on my FAST Track Racing day I got the red flag and they yelled at me because the tape came off my motorcycle. So we tried to put the tape on but it wouldn't stick because of the detailing stuff. They let me back on but they yelled at me again later and said don't do it again. Did you watch Part 2 FAST on the racetrack?

Cool video. Can I ask how you secured your RAM Mount to your bike? Is it on the fuel tank or the handlebars?

Hello James thank you for watching. I found some photos for you,, note that last summer I got rid of the ram mount and replaced it with the "quad lock". Mounting is on a round ball knuckle with a 2 inch extension the same thing for that RAM mount. It's in the center of my handlebars on a riser, there's also a little charging port you will see next to the round-ball knuckle. I hope this helps for you. 🏍️🤙 Here is the link. photos.app.goo.gl/G8N8b8V3SmvnEpAR6

@@MotoTouringWorldWide that's so awesome. Thank you so much for sharing the photos. I really appreciate your effort. 😊 Can I please ask where you bought the parts to be able to do the same thing? I think your RAM Mount set up with charging port is exactly what I am after. Keep the awesome ST1300 Videos coming. I have just purchased my first ST1300. (2011 MODEL) I absolutely love it and the main modification I would like to do is something just like what you did to yours with the charging port and ram ball mount. Thanks again. 😊 👍 From Australia. 🇦🇺

@@JamesRousseaux ,, 2011 ST, WOW !! . Excellent year and model. I was able to piece everything together for you. I have the Helibar risers which comes with the 1 inch ball and the BMW charging port. Here is the link for the risers. photos.app.goo.gl/ZwFXcu69CFovzS7q8 The 1 inch ball is connected to a 3 inch "RAM" extension, both ends have a 1-inch mouth. From "quadlock" you need 3 pieces which is the vibration dampener, square base to stick on the back of your phone and then the quad lock itself. Here is the photo link: photos.app.goo.gl/VwT4geG1zHxrYpUf7 Here is the BMW accessory digital meter with 2 USB ports. photos.app.goo.gl/DjY26HQN16Eg6YRM9 Hope you're able to piece it all together!! @@JamesRousseaux and by the way I just now realized while going through my own video list of all my videos,,, I do not have any videos of my quad lock,, so I realized I need to make a video. Your questions inspired me to make a short video on the pieces required for the quad lock set up. By the way the quad lock is so much better than the ram rubber strap system, it got very annoying when removing the phone and constantly fighting the rubber band straps that go around the phone,, the quad lock is so easy to use and the phone comes on and off the base in 2 seconds. Greetings from Seattle, it's 1:30 in the morning. One of these days I will come to Australia , such a beautiful country ❤️🤙🏍️

After this testing lap, Mike, racers was no worry about passing your bike in final laps . If racers knew your real riding potential and potential of your bike, they will give more attention on you. :) Grey horse did them.

Hi Alexandr, Yes on this day was my very 1st day on the track. I was learning the bike. I was able, as you know, a week later on the other racetrack Pacific Raceway to perform. I was more comfortable on the bike and I did much better. I"m thinking i will visit a specialty shop that will program my engine computer for more horsepower and top speed. Hope all is well. It's currently drizzle and rain here in Seattle. It has been sunny and warm since May.

Good morning Visioney, Thank you for watching, I totally agree with you, my wife's job was to film over there against the wall on the straight away but she totally screwed up the video. She held the camera in one spot and did not follow the bike,, so it was completely boring,. However this was my very first time back on the track after I got out of the hospital and this day was testing only. If you take a look at my video list you will notice part 2 and part 3, my last day on the track was this summer and the title is labeled " ST1300 FASTER with booster plug", this time I had a front and rear camera, I hope you like it, I'm still learning all the tricks of the trade of videography. Your idea to have different angles is on my top list of "next time". Do you have a motorcycle, if yes what kind??, cheers and a have a wonderful week.. 🏍️🤙🏍️

@@MotoTouringWorldWide my last big bike in '91 was a Gold Wing GL1100 Interstate. I was out of the saddle from '94-'14. Currently on a PCX150 but looking at an ST1300, FJR1300 or TMAX (will still keep the PCX150, at 2.25l/100km it's great for town).

I would have loved to have been on that track and ridden so much faster than they were going, I ride a 09 1200rt and my tires are rated at 149 mph, have not gone that fast and don't plan on it unless I'm on a track but I take plenty of curves here in south Tx where I live as fast as I can, a couple of times my right boot was hanging too far down and I scraped the pavement with my boot, that meant I still had two and a half inches to hit the bottom of the foot peg, my tires are fair new and I don't do this all the time as there is way too much flat land down here. Stay safe, ride smart.

Maybe switch back to the stock windscreen and set it to the lowest setting. Really helps reduce drag.

@@MotoTouringWorldWide I don't have any expertise in racing at all so my opinion on that doesn't mean dick. I just happen to ride an ST1300PA and noticed the size and position of your windscreen. I have done fuel consumption testing on mine and found that I get a measurable improvement due to reduced drag when the screen is in the sports position. Which saddens me because in the full height position the ride become almost silent which is nicer than wearing earplugs. Anyway, have fun and remember that you should ride the bike and never let it ride you.

Thanks for video, I’ve got st 1300 and When turning I’m afraid it will slip, should I afraid to turn and lean that low? What if some small stones on the road while turning, will I fall down or tires are designed to keep motorcycle while turning? Thanks
@MotoTouringWorldWide
@MotoTouringWorldWide 3 жыл бұрын
Hello you UMG production, thank you for watching, if you have a chance be sure to watch part 2 FAST, and then you will also see part 3 FASTER with booster plug. Don't be too afraid about leaning that low, based on the speed and how tight the turn is, it will determine the angle of your lean. (Now, if there is small stones or sand on the road, or even leaves on the road you will very likely slide and crash the motorcycle and it's very dangerous if you do not have clean Road surface). You will see that the other two videos on the track lean will always be determined on speed and tightness of turn. If you have a chance I highly recommend finding a motorcycle training class for a track day. The video you just watched was my very first track day with this ST June of 2019. When you see part 3 faster with booster plug, I went all out and was very very comfortable with the ST1300.. on my video list pull up those two videos, be safe, ride safe, and enjoy one of the best Sport Touring motorcycles. ❤️🏍️🤙
