Honda Talon 31” Carnivore Tires on Stock Wheels | Best setup i’ve found for performance

I think I’ll get 32s when I wear out my factory ones a bit more . I road , Indian Ridge , Pinnacle creek , Pocahontas last year with My Talon R . No problem with my tires yet . I tried the Bob-t nap thing . My tablet wouldn’t overlay the maps . I recommend On X Off-road . I love it . The first few times I did Hatfield McCoy with the paper maps . Nice set up. I'm getting 30x10-14 carnivores on my yxz with some light non beadlock moose rims with the 4/3 offset. I'm running 27 inch motohammers now and are great for my high speed fire roads but i'm in the mood now for some big soft pillows for the rough trails at camp.

you mentioned the talon x and talon r are a little different what is the difference on them? which is better for bigger tires and more mud and hill situations?

Talon r is better for what your describing, it has wider and longer wheel base than the x model so you run up to 35in tires on a factory r model

I really love your video. I have a 2021 1000X-4, and really want to mount the 31's on the stock wheels, but heard it leaves the back wheel too exposed. What are your thoughts? Also, are the stock wheels the same size all around?

I actually have a 2021 x4 now myself “white and red”. I’m running 30” xtr 370’s on the stock wheels and it doe’s perfectly fine. The 30” xtr370’s are the same height as the 31” carnivores also

Just so you know, 32's will not rub at all on your R model, they only rub on the X model. The R is not only wider, the front A-Arms are swept forward a couple inches giving you more wheel clearance.

My x4 has 32 and do rub at full turn and The suspension compresses a little

Hello, Good topic for discussion. Are you running the carnivores on the 2 separate sized (front/back) original wheels? If on the stock wheels does the wider rim on the rear make the rear tires shorter and does that affect the 4 wheel drive adversely? Thanks and looking forward to an answer.

Nope, the tire size is the same on all for as far as height. And yes I’m running them on the stock wheels. That machine has almost 2000 miles now same tires and absolutely no issue at all. I have a talon x4 now and I’m running 30x10x15 xtr 370’s on the stock wheels on that one. No issues

Did you keep your stock 9” wide wheels in rear or did you put front wheels in rear as well?

I kept it the same. The stock wheels that came on the front are still on the front. The rear stocks are still on the rear.

Rock house is my favorite trail. I have driven the trail twice about 250 miles all together on stock tires Talon X 2 seater. They do very well on all the green and blue trails at high speeds. Not great at crawling though.

do they soften the ride? i have a lot of washboard near me up in Wisconsin and I know my honda rancher has extreamply soft and low psi it makes such a smooth ride. but on my talon the tires are so high pressured and I would really like to get a softer 30in maybe tire and I want to know if these do the trick

It softens it a little bit. I love The talons but they ride pretty rigid no matter what. These tires run at Max 18psi and I usually run 10-12psi on Rocky terrain.

I run a 32” ITP Tenacity tire on my X4 stock wheels.Very little rub. I’ve heard 32” doesn’t rub at all on your R. Give me a yell sometime you’re in WV.

I use an apple iPad with a gear 4 case. Drilled 4 holes and mounted a ram ball in the part used to prop it up works great

Funny you ask, I have been kicking around the idea of selling mine and buying the 4 seater for the family. I ride with a few talon 4 seaters and they go just as easy as my 1000R. Only drawback they say is, due to extra length, it makes the turning radius a little larger. Plus the only other differences in the X & R is the R is a little wider/ longer and the suspension has more travel.

Yes, the front rims are narrower than the rear but all 4 tires are the same size. I had the Honda dealer mount them and they had no issues at all. I’ve put over 300 miles on them so far and they are still going strong.

⁠@@carlosfrias740 No… spacer is only needed if you get aftermarket wheels that are all the same width. Spacer then goes on back. I think it’s supposed to be 1.5”…. I think?

Yes typically it acts more retarded and struggled to lock both front wheels and will just cook your brake pads

Some 32” tires fit and some don’t, most tires are true to there size but depending on air pressure can vary the hight

Knock on wood, so far so good! I have almost 500 miles on it now and haven’t had one single issue. We rode right at 200 miles in West Virginia in 3 days and it performed great. I absolutely love this machine, a lot better than my RZR I had.

I read the rear axle is shorter and the wider tire in back makes up the difference. If you put all same size tires guys are putting 1 1/2 spacer on the rear

When I had the 35” tires on it, the wheels were 5+2 offset and required 1 1/2” spacer on each rear wheel to make it even with the front.

Actually no, the front are the factory front wheels. A 10” wide tire will fit the factory front wheels also.
