What a wonderful way to publically shame your daughter for making a mistake---and forcing her participate in the public humiliation. When she makes a mistake when she older, and one that she truly needs help to solve, I wonder if she'll come to you. I wouldn't. What a thing to say that it was a mistake to let her try something she really wanted to try and to announce this to the entire world right in front of her. How do you think she'll feel if her friends see this? Or her bullies?

Yeah, those smiles look full of shame. Maybe he’s actually teaching her something about listening, consequences, and accountability. He’d be doing her more harm than good if he just fixed it for her.

I have one like this for each vehicle. They pop fuses. They could improve the product by including a small supply of the correct fuses.

You trace the outline with the router. Do you readjust the router to go deeper in the wood.

Top job! Don't think anyone could fault you for a first attempt that came out so well. I'm about to have a first attempt myself, and found your video very inspiring. I will be using a much better trim router, though, and am in the process of making a two-handed acrylic base to improve control over the cutter. That said, I'll still be over the moon if it turns out as well as your first try.

I bought one of these and it's not worth a lick. Nothing on it would stay tight. All of the plastic "locking" nuts vibrated loose. Glad it worked for you.

I would put a nail in both sides. Otherwise, if someone pulls on the door and it bends out a little, they will know there is some kind of lock on that one side. With nails on both sides, there will be no flex and they may assume the panel is permanently nailed shut.

For a perfect hole depth every time: cut the tip off the nail but not the head. Them drill the hole, not as deep as the nail is long. Insert the nail. The head should not touch the box or you made the hole too deep. Mark the nail a tiny bit too long. Cut the head off a the mark. Put the nail back in, to see exactly how much to grind off to make it perfectly flush. This will work every time.
