I find the Honda Varadero very beautiful. I started riding motorcycles recently, and with each ride, I've been enjoying it more. The Honda Varadero is one that I still want to have someday. Beautiful ride, amazing places. Greetings from a motorcyclist from Brazil 👍

Really nice video. I work as a fitter for Brandon tool hire. In Cardiff, the job is okay I suppose. its money. But the best part is the .20mile cumute each way on the vardero 1000 .that keeps me going.

good video how did you find the varaedro
@ronbosgra82306 жыл бұрын
@Andy: late reply, but the Varadero is a wonderfull beast of a machine. I've driven, in chronological order: Yamaha FJ600, Kawasaki Vulcan 700, Yamaha Virago 1000, Honda Shadow 700 Bobber. I started going big distances with the bobber and really enjoyed long travels. My back did not. After the shadow broke down (which gave me many tears) I bought a big Honda Pan European for touring. It was a big drastic change coming from years on choppers and bobbers I customized myself. I sort of missed the bobber feel and bought a second bike. An extreme green looking Honda Shadow 600 bobber. I quickly disliked the Pan European only because it's a 4 cilinder. I found some one who wanted to sell his Varadero, or trade it for a 4 cillinder tourbike. So after some negotiations we decided to swap bikes. Drove up north on december 31st and back again. Completely frozen, but in posession of the Varadero. BEST. DECISION. EVER! The Varadero is smooth, super flexible in traffic, nice and upright and high seating position (I'm 1.89m / 6ft4). I did buy a Bagster seat from France which helped reduce pinching back pains between the shoulders. I needed a fysiotherapist to unlock a locked rib before I bought the new seating. A really painfull experience and made me think about investing in good seating rather than a new motorcycle. (Tip: go for a firm seat, rather than soft). I now like the Vara so much, I got rid of my chopper blood and sold my 'Green Devil's Coffin' bobber motorcycle. My Varadero now looks different than on the video. After this trip I knew I was going to keep this bike until it breaks down or I can get one of the newer versions for a good price. I went from The Netherlands to Sweden with to visit a friend of mine and afterwards decided that I needed more gadgets for a saver and more pleasant trip. I painted it grey/black, added 4 LED fog lights, 6 warning blinkers (4 front, 2 back), swapped the tires for the Metzler Karoo 3 to make it look more rugged, but also to transfer gravel better through the tires, especially in corners. I expected to handle sand roads better but this is a big no no. I simply dig myself in... Oh well.. I added handle bar risers, got rid of the 5 cases and now drive with just two aluminum top load cases on both sides. The 5 cases setup I had might seem weird, but boy was I able to take a lot with me LOL! The front cases protected my legs from wind, insects and rubble flying upwards. Looking at the bike from the side, it looked weird, but car owners could not figure out what kind of bike, trike or quad was driving behind them. And the bike still handled like a smooth beast, navigating and laying down my Vara in mountain corners while going 80kmph/50mph). It was not a problem at all! It's a pretty heavy bike when you step off of it and push it in position, but that's the only downside of the entire motorcycle. Well.. the second downside is that the carburated versions do drink a bit more gasoline than the fuel injected versions, but hey we're talking about 50km/30mi less fun on a full tank... I really wanted to check out newer motorcycles like the Honda ST1300 and BMW RT1200 and feel the difference. I can tell you that the Varadero felt way more stable and firmly than the RT and ST bikes I drove on. You really sit inside the Varadero, rather than on top of a motorcycle like the BMW or Pan Euro. Obviously not everyone likes the looks of the Vara, but if you like touring on a 2 cilinder motorcycle and you don't want a small bike, go for the Varadero. It's a piece of Honda engineering which might look a bit intimidating at first to handle, but it'll quickly grow on you!

boordbelsj zelf gemaakt, klopt.

Hi. Did the bike feel heavy off road?
@ronbosgra82306 жыл бұрын
hwity asaad this motorcycle is a no go offroad (sand, mud, loose gravel). It's ok on hardenend trails. I did do some gravel in Sweden, but the design of the bike just doesn't cope with all the side way swerving you get on loose ground and your front wheel constantly digs it self in sand because there's a lot of weight on the front tyre, because of it's high center of gravity and bulky build. It's an absolute killer machine on road and in the twisties!! I drive an NC700X at the moment. Super low center of gravity. The 17" front wheel, which I fitted with a Continental TKC70, is great off road.

What tires are you running on your Varadero?
@ronbosgra82305 жыл бұрын
Metzeler Karoo 3. I don't recommend them. Terrible in the rain, noisy and skittish over painted lines. I sold this bike a few years ago. I strongly recommend Continental TKC70. They wear out fairly quick, but the grip in rain and during winter is superb! ( I ride a 2016 Africa Twin atm, but I'm changing to a 2014 Crosstourer in a week, with Continental tyres).
@fokke10375 жыл бұрын
@@ronbosgra8230 Thanks Ron! I had Metzeler Tourance tires myself and also disliked them for similar reasons. But I'll take your advice and won't purchase the one you rode. Funny you are also looking at the Crosstourer, it will also be the one I expect to buy next year. Feels like the new age Varadero! Enjoy!

@@fokke1037 I sure hope so. The AT was the bike I wanted for a while. But now that I have it, the bike is a disappointment. Dodgy start button, sticky control buttons, a hernia infusing seat and failing front forks which costs 1800,- to repair. Anyway, I sure hope the Crosstourer is indeed my old Varadero bike mixed with a Pan European ;)
