Honda VF750F Interceptor vs Yamaha R6

First time at the dragstrip with my '84 VF750F Interceptor, running against my buddy on his R6 (also the first time at the track with his bike). We both screwed up our launch but I also red lighted. This particular pass was a 14.94 @ 103mph for me and he managed a 13.52@116mph.
I never did get the launch right that night but I did manage a couple 13.2 passes after this.

I have one... and it slips aswell*.... seems worse than this one though... when mine decides to slip it doesnt go anywhere... just noise! ...... *its supposedly down to the use of a diaphragm clutch rather than a convetional coil spring clutch... absolute ball ache.

Hydraulic slipper clutch system sounds like it might need a refresh. I had an '85 tariff'd VF700F that ran hard and didn't slip like that at all.

What a great sound. Great run. Have a 1983 US spec that needs a total ground up restoration. It was imported into UK in 1990s. Really looking forward to starting that project.The silencers are OEM black chrome with some serious pitting, but I'm keen to restore to stock, so something has to be done with them.

@@Theoutdoorsydadso do i, 5k mikes sitting since 1994 due to the shift arm spring breakinf. got it 2 days ago and got it running in a few hours. however my clutch had no pressure and the bike was stuck in 2nd. after 20 mins of running on the stand the clutch plates freed up and the rear wheel started rolling, still no clutch pressure tho. i now completley vaccume bled the clutch and theres good pressure and no more air, however, clutch still doesnt work it kind of engages whenever it wants or acts as if it is in nuetral and wont move the bike, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

i had an 83 the first year with the small front tire .had a bad speed wobble . in 84 the put a bigger front wheel on the interceptor

Mr Wolf It has an aftermarket (unknown brand) equal length header and super trap mufflers installed by the previous owner. Other than that it's stock as far as I'm aware.

Well technically the R6 won because I redlighted, but also I'm pretty sure he got me at the line. He definitely had a much quicker bike, but had a crap launch.

Either that R6 had a dead cylinder or was the first model. The current 115+ hp lighter R6 would eat that old 750 in a drag, even if you had a good clutch.
