The caliper pistons was improperly wound. That will Damage the parking brake motor.

You're absolutely correct about that. You gotta turn on the vehicle but just in the on position (don't start the car). Then you can take a needle nose pliers and turn the caliper in. Also my guy,you never put grease on the rotors .
@preetkumar9270
@preetkumar9270 3 ай бұрын
If you have a hand held OBD monitoring instrument or if you can borrow one from a friend you can put the E-Brake in maintenance mode and that will turn the motor back and then allow you to use a normal disc brake piston compressor tool to push the piston back.

Grease should never go on the surface of the rotor or the pad surface. Sorry to call you out but it’s better to know.

And using old rotors on new pads causes pulsation, squeaking, and brake fade. Also have the right tools, saves a lot of damage to the car and the person fixing it.

Um. Yeah you NEVER put grease on a rotor. It will contaminate the pads but also be a possible cause for a car to not stop or at the very least reduce braking distance

This caliper is not a push in ,just be patient and twist it,it does retract,they do have a special tool for it or just use a needle nose pliers,it is much harder but it does work ,good luck!

You can get the same pads at Napa auto parts, for about 45 bucks, part act1878. Akebono makes the pads for Honda. Honda just box them in their own Honda labeled box and jack up the price lol.

Can someone explain the piston part more ?.. what is the purpose of turning it ?
@BayViewz
@BayViewz Жыл бұрын
With the new braking system for the newer cars, instead of using a c-clamp like traditional braking system, for this Honda you have to turn it for the piston to go back in before installing the new brake pads. Hopes this helps and brings more clarity

Car does not need to be on and should not be. They sell a cube at the auto parts store that I'll match up with the dimples you put it on the end of a 3/8 ratchet push in and twist at the same time. If you want to spend a 100 bucks or more they sell other tools to compress the piston. Places like autozone will also rent it to you for free
@anon2414
@anon2414 Жыл бұрын
@@nellof1244I took off the electric brake plastic part from the back. You need to twist the spline bolt then you can compress the caliper. Other videos show you how to do that. I was using the tool from AutoZone it wasn't moving anything

You need to warn people about the parking brake- if its on, and the person doesnt check it or do the old wheel spin trick, you could cause someone to mess up their parking brake sensor thus costing them $$$ to get it fixed

The piston I did not turn it how you did with the pliers I just pushed it straight back , and my brake light on the dash board is blinking do you think cus of that ,? My electric brake still works tho
@BayViewz
@BayViewz 2 жыл бұрын
I turned it with the pliers and then when it stopped turning I used a c-clamp to pushed it back in. What you did probably triggered it. I would scan the car to make sure there are no codes and disconnect the car battery for a few mins to see it the brake light on the dash stops blinking.

Do you have to turn it a certain way? Counter clockwise or clockwise?
@vigourdiy5084
@vigourdiy5084 Жыл бұрын
@@BayViewz The correct way is to use a diagnostic tool to put the brakes in "service mode" then manually turn the piston back clockwise or counter clockwise, it depends on make & model. If you dont you can definitely damage the piston or the actuator motor & its internal parts/gears. These caliper motors are built with "limit stops", so if the brake light is flashing it's possible the cars system cant correlate with the rear brakes & it's actual position. You may have to "relearn" the system.
@Thomasrulesrs
@Thomasrulesrs Жыл бұрын
@@vigourdiy5084 there is also a way to put the electronic brake into “maintenance mode” to c clamp the piston. I don’t find the pliers to be efficient or trustworthy enough to not damage the piston.
