Well once again I thank you for the videos and commentary. Originally the Saddle bag USB port did not work. When I had plugged it in originally I did not see there was a plastic ring that was in the way after removing the dummy plug (not sure why that was left there). Anyway, after a ride today I decided to give it another look see. Checked it, it worked and I was able to install it without bag removal. And also installed the battery tender in the other grommet. The disassembly videos are indispensable for knowing what to pull on and what is screwed in. I am debating on the cigarette lighter adapter in the left side panel, if I can do it while its on the bike. Or another complete disassembly will be required to drill the hole. If thats the case I will pull the ECU at the same time and send for reprogramming.

I have heard of people installing cig lighter with bike mostly assembled. Drill a tiny hole from the back side of the panel where Honda wants it, then you can come back through the front with the proper step drill to size.

It takes 5-7 min alltogether to install this USB cable. No need to touch the saddlebag except to open it :) Also, those 2x USB connectors at the controller are actually swappable (!) just with a tiny non-destructive step :)

Good video as usual. Thanks for taking the time.

I have not installed this grommet but I've used Windex as a lubricant in the past to help getting them in place. Should dry up afterwards.

Is there any modification to the 2018 Goldwing that does not require dismantling at least half the motorcycle? In the silver-lining-category, if you are a D-I-Yer… by the second modification you will feel like a Red Level certified mechanic.

Love your sense of humor max. Btw will this usb cable work like the one in the glove box for the apple car play ?

I could not believe that the usb in the glove box doesn’t charge your phone. How hard would it be? If you are using things like nav on your phone it burns the battery. So now you can either us Apple CarPlay or charge your phone but not both. This is a reminder of what tech was like before apple made products that work and changed the industry. There are many great things about this bike but so many stupid things that would have been easy for them to do right and very hard to correct after the fact. They went through the trouble of making a connector so you can charge your phone in the saddle bag, why would you want your phone bouncing around or stuffed into the mini saddle bag?

All good questions! Personally, I hate everything Apple does. Everything.

You are so right. Let's save a dummy plug so when we pay 300-400 dollars to remove a 50 dollar part we can save that dummy plug money. **** honda! For the short bus readers, "****" starts w/ an "f" contains 4 letters and ends in "uck"
