I had a NC700X from 2013 to 2019 and did about 20000 miles on it, including trips from England to France and Germany. It was so awful that when I changed it in May last year, I had to get something at least a little different, so I forced myself to buy a new NC750X DCT.......
@RobertLeeLewisThe2nd3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like my experience. I started with the NC700X DCT. It is actually only 670cc. Compare that to the NC750X with 749cc displacement. That is over 10% increase in displacement and approximately 8% increase in horsepower. When I upgraded to the NC750, I really felt the increase in power. And the DCT advanced by one generation at the same time. So, more power (same weight) and smoother transmission. I love the NC750X. I added HONDA top case and paniers, heated grips, a Madstad windshield (I STONGLY recommend the Madstad system), and some lights. COMPLAINT: The new LED headlight is a bright horizontal beam that leans with the bike, causing blind spots on curves at night.

I'm young, 35, and I own this bike. I like hearing a 66 year old saying what I know deep down is true. I look at the GS and KTM's that my friends ride but the extra cost for those bikes just doesn't quite justify it to me. You pay 100% more for a new one and get 10-20% more experience and then on the maintenance/longevity side they're actually losing. I"m not the cool guy in the fleet but like you say, I go wherever they do and if there's ever drama surrounding breakdowns, it ain't me.

Just brought an NC. Looking at your past bikes, you have had a lot more dirt oriented bikes than I did. Your idea of off road boredom would be VERY exciting for me! However, I can relate to the pleasures of boredom as I own four late model GP 2 strokes, exciting track bikes to 99.9% of riders. On a twisty road I would take the boring NC any day, exemplifying your comment at 4.20 that the road is not a racetrack. The soporific manner the NC eats up "twisties" takes boredom to new heights. I have never "tolerated" boredom so much in my life. Now to find a dirt road to make my NC exciting! Great review, thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’m on my second NC750X, does this make me a masochist? As my bike is now three years old, and with BMW having launched the F900 XR, I was convinced this was going to be my next purchase. However, after taking one on a test ride my hopes were dashed - completely! It was a wet day, the white demo bike arrived covered in road filth as a result of having woefully small mudguards. It troubled me that I was contemplating spending a five figure sum on something that would rarely look clean. Anyway, I was prepared to overlook the this, but, within 10 minutes of riding it, it was the vibrations through the handlebars, resulting in pins and needles in my hands, that ended my dreams. I was gutted! But I also had concerns about the worrying metallic noises this BMW engine makes at all speeds. Oh well...back to he drawing board. For now I’ll stick to 80mpg, cheap insurance, having a useful frunk, bags of low-down grunt and being (happily) boring.

I love the constant reminder that I'm not riding a real bike everytime I pull away from a stop and the DCT does the shifting for me...and the 3.2l/100 km, well, real riders on real bikes don't even know how much fuel their real bikes consume. On the down side, being colour blind, the light show on the dash is lost on me...do other riders actually take notice of this feature? Additionally, I love that it's not a popular bike here in Canada. I recently picked up a new, old stock 2018 with an out the door savings of $3500 over the current year model...$9200 Cdn (7012 USD, 5927 Euro) all in 😊

Excellent. A long overdue piss take of the power/speed/huge weight brigade who just don't understand that a passing landscape is beautiful whether you are doing 30 mph or 80 mph, and that you really don't need expensive or insanely heavy, powerful or so-called "iconic" bikes to enjoy the view. The biking world is rather too full of not very bright people who have far too much influence over the gullible and easily persuaded, which is why the adventure biking world is full of absurd myths. The painfully cliched insistence that biking is only valid if you have the most expensive and ludicrously over-powered machines is becoming very tedious.

This is just the video I needed as i'm in a horrible situation. I've had so many bikes over the years, but mostly sportsbikes, had a bit of everything from Super Blackbirds, Fazer 600's etc, enjoyed them all but 99% of my riding is commuting because the bike is my only transport. Years and years ago I had both a Triumph Speed Four and a Triumph TT600 and they cemented themselves as my favourite bikes of all time...so much so that I purchased myself an extremely tidy TT600 3 weeks ago and I was back in heaven, problem with these is they are bastards to do even the simplest of jobs on, they guzzle fuel, even after updating fuel maps, they have the terrible throttle response and lack of low down power that causes issues during every day road riding. A few days ago a lady pulled right out from her driveway without looking and smashed into the side of me, my TT600 was a write off, as was her car so I'm proud of the bike for at least getting in its revenge before kicking the bucket. My insurance company dropped off a hire bike for me (that amazingly gets charged against her insurer, this is to make them hurry up and not drag their feet, works too). The bike they dropped off was a 2019 NC750X, I've not had a chance to ride it yet, but I knew very little about them and have been watching your video's, and it seems the perfect ideal bike for me, once my leg and shoulder are a bit better I'll be able to take it for a spin, but watching this vid has made me realize that as much as I love those Triumphs, and those sorts of bikes, perhaps it's time I let them go and just let them be a memory, and that the NC750X is the most sensible and practical bike that ticks every single thing I need. Thanks for the video, I think the sarcasm and good old Aussieness of it all has helped me see sense over here in the UK!

Well as a boring old fart the same age as you. Then this definitley looks like the bike for me. I'll probably get the DCT version so I can sleep while I'm on the road because I like to take a nap in the afternoon. Can't wait, I am so looking forward to being bored.

Good move. A nice nap is better than ??? at our age.

You summed up the bike perfectly. The lean angle was ridiculous and never felt unsafe, which is probably dangerous. Could even get all my shopping in it with the tank space and top box. Only niggle I had was that the fuel cap was under the rear seat, so when it was loaded up, filling up was a chore, wish they had put it on the side like the bmw.

Hello, great video. Exactly my thoughts and experiences with the Honda NCX 750. Have fun with your next trip. Thomas / Germany

Love the vid man! Yeah, it’s pretty boring not having to wrestle with the bike every 5 minutes when out for a ride with yer mates - I normally stick a live rattlesnake down my trousers when I take the NC out for a spin, just to stop boredom setting in… Keep riding and stay safe (and bored) 💪🏻💪🏻✊🏻✊🏻🏍🏍

This is an incredible video. "The bike is really great at so many things, and that makes it terrible." Outstanding. Not sure why so many aren't getting the point. Anyway. I got my 2018 new and I still love it. On road, gravel, dirt, grass, creek beds, it's just a pleasure to ride. Um, I mean IT'S BORING!

Boring?? You don't know the meaning of the word. Took mine out the other day for a ride no more than 5 klm from home in this lock down. Now, that's boring. Great video and you sum the bike up so well. Thank you

The NC is a modern bike for today easy to dismiss on looks alone but ride one and it all comes together ! It’s the step before electric takes over folks , Honda knows where it’s going!

The kind of video that makes you laugh but also makes you wanna have this "boring" bike. After 30,000 Km with this bike I've just realised that it's very boring also that this bike it's so reliable... 😉

As an R1200GS owner, I think you're giving the GS too much credit. In general, the GS is equally boring as the NC750X, the only extra excitement you get with the Beemer, is a few moments of anxiety between walking into the workshop to pick up your bike after maintenance, and being presented with the maintenance bill.
@AfricaTwin-Stuff3 жыл бұрын
Hmm. I think you are right. I owned a 1150GS for 13 years and did my own maintenance so missed that excitement.

Really loved your videos and they helped me decide buying one of these amazing machines. I bought a used one a couple of days ago, the 2016 750x dct version, 13k km on board. I love to ride this, is so easy to ride, so nimble and compared to my last bike who had double the power and the horses I ride this one MUCH faster than that one and much more relaxed and focused. Very comfortable and I really like that the exhaust is not loud and the engine has a low rumble, is just perfect for my ears. It's just full of small things that just makes you smile. I'm sure all the motorcyclists that don't see it as a real bike due to low specs and no gear shift(on DCT version), once given the chance to ride it, it will change their minds. Thank you for posting these videos, really had an impact on my decision, especially that sarcams.

I absolutely agree with everything u said, I'm a proud owner of a nc 700x and I was considering in changing into a bigger ,"funnier" bike but everyday I'm finding no reasons to do it mainly cause everything you've considered in your video it's true... There is no boring bikes there are boring bikers instead Greetings from Spain
