Hi everyone, welcome to our latest Honest Government Ad: “Visit Timor-Leste”. This is about the Australian Government's treatment of one of our smaller neighbours in the region. Which is especially relevant now that our Government has decided to prosecute a former intelligence-agent (“Witness K”) for revealing how said Government screwed over Timor-Leste - the youngest and poorest nation in our neighbourhood - during negotiations over access to oil and gas resources. To understand why this prosecution is so vile and self-serving, rather than about protecting our national security, we need to understand the history of the relationship between Australia and Timor-Leste - a sordid tale of repeated betrayals which most Australians are unfamiliar with. I've included a good list of sources and references in the video description, for anyone who wants to do further reading about this topic Or you can click directly on this online doc: docs.google.com/document/d/1RxQ4ycCiasVqk5sjPAn5-dOJWA5UutTa6B1inSGO0nI/edit Giordano

Fun Fact: Timor-Leste's name in English is East Timor. In Indonesian/Malay, east translates to Timur(Timor) . That's right, the country's name when fully translate and turned to English is East East
@safuwanfauzi50143 жыл бұрын
Because when Malay sailor came to the island, they know it was the east most of the chain big islands or lesser Sunda Islands, so they named it Timor Island or in Malay Pulau Timur or old spelling Pulo Timor, Malay, Bugis, Makassarese, Bajau, Iranun are seafaring people, Malay also travel in Philippine island chain, like Luzon, that give Seludong Kingdom and also satellite state of Brunei, Malay Srivijayan mixed Chola Indian open new kingdom in Visaya, Cebu Island, kingdom of Sugbu/cebu, and also Butuan and Sulu sultanate[Malay-Tausug mixed]. So not surprise how Timor get it name, and Malay Dili, Malay Kupang spoke in Timor island are lingua franca or trade language, same with Ambon Malay, ternate Malay, Bacan Malay in Maluku, Papuan Malay in Papua, Makassar Malay in south Sulawesi, Manado Malay in north Sulawesi, Bali Malay in Bali island[not Balinese language], Alor Malay in Alor island Nusatenggra, and Malay variant in Borneo, Sumatra and one in java called Betawi in Jakarta.

Do more on timor leste, alot of Australian Military Veterans would love to no why some of us are so screwed up from that deployment. DR Nelson, Minister for defence, deployed troops in 2006, May "Timor crisis" , ballistic gear, grenades, Armoured vehicles all sent... Wounded Troops from a multi national team, dead and mutilated bodies , skirmishes in the streets which went to the mountains, settled after a few months... no doubt the troops were being classified as a " war like deployment" meaning troops are entitled to better coverage and benefits for injuries sustained, pay per day nearly triples , but more importantly, Troops didn't feel they were allowed to speak of the traumas of this deployment as it wasn't deemed anything more than a peace keeping 'non war like deployment " Yet in previous years and for certian operations in the same period, these were deemed as "war like"... I myself suffer from accepted injuries from this deployment, due to this betrayal and broken promise by our government, And parliament. Just my situation miss out on $1000 a ftn, my wife who takes care of me and reduced her working hours and income , she isn't entitled to a thing no support , However if only the first deployment for the periods of May the start til August in 2006 to stop the civil war was recognised and not labelled as a nothing more than a vacation it would have changed my life and many more... So, a laugh would be good especially since all troops no the real reason we were there , and gas gas and security of our nation's interests... Timor recognised the lack of our government recognition and actually minted a medal for the troops, We screwed that poor country over , our government lied to us and our mission... And it's own govt still wanted to show gratitude for this event... Thanks for making my crazy rants not look so crazy with this Timor video... LMFAO!!

Exactly and trust this is exactly whats happening in Afghanistan. America invaded and stole their resources and made the world believe that Taliban will kill women and everyone else while they were stealing Gold and Lithium from their land. Afghanistan has world's largest reserves of Lithium and Gold(worth 3 Trillion+). I know people will still think I am wron. Australia is now doing the same thing in West Papua. But instead of coastal oil and gas rig in Timor Leste, it’s West Papua’s Grasberg Mine in Indonesia (biggest gold mine and second biggest copper mine in the world). Australia wants to divide and conquer Indonesia for it's resources by creating multiple countries in Indonesia, similar tactics of the British Empire in divide and conquer India-Pakistan-Bangladesh, Ireland-Northern Ireland, Netherlands-Belgium, Iraq-Kuwait, and Yemen-Oman. They don't want us united.

Not sure what Australia did, but we're BOTH Commonwealth members, and BOTH SPEAK ENGRISH, but never called each other??

Fadhly it’s a little misleading. Let’s clarify a few things. 1st, East Timor was in chaos through a civil war, the Indonesian leadership saw an opportunity to annex East Timor, court the West by pointing out Fretilin left wing politics and even though they have yet to have connection with communist countries. The West naturally did and thus Indonesia invaded and a long conflict began. Only after the regime change due to the financial crisis and the Australian changing their mind about Timor did a vote was initiated. Chaos followed the vote as Indonesian meddling in Timor resulted in a crisis that caught the attention of the international community whom hilariously only now condemn Indonesia and demand their withdrawal. The sanctions imposed are only limiting the sales of military equipments, not real economic sanctions. The greed of the regional powers torn smaller nations apart, yet some still try to justify the atrocities.

Australia robbed East Timor from Portugal through Indonesia. Supported Indonesia to invade East Timor just to make them "independent" as they would become easier to be controlled by Australia if not under Portuguese/Indonesian hands. Lucky bastard, Australia.
