I'm with you, this is not one I choose to listen to, although I don't skip it if it turns up on a playlist. However, live it is spectacular, especially when Chen is able to catch his breath and hold that long note. I saw a fan clip once that caught him in the background doing some breathing exercises during the song to be able to do it, but I've never been able to find it again.

I felt the same as you, I'm not a fan of rock music, and listening to the recording wasn't for me. BUT when I saw a video of EXO performing this live on stage...it immediately changed my mind! The live stage performance is unbelievable even though I didn't like the song, the members bringing this to life live made it way better!
