Thanks Ben! I've been carrying the TIP for a couple years now and have had no problems at all, but I like some of these upgrades, especially the magnets and the covered micro-USB port.

Pretty cool light, i may look into that for my keys. I like that u have to hold down the buttons to turn it on, for the same reason u said. Less likely to accidentally turn it on in the pocket.

I actually think the Tip 2 is the better EDC light and more versatile compared to the TUP. The TUP is to bulky and the magnet feature of the TIP 2 is a great feature. I already have the TIP1 and i dont like the weak and short clip of it, the clip of the TIP2 seems to be alot longer which is key for me. I also accidentaly activated the TIP1 in my pocket which isnt good.
@50kArchipelagos5 жыл бұрын
You said that much better than I did. You're right that is the point it's the quality. Anyone who has ever tried to work on a wiring harness with a blue light has found themselves eventually pulling out their Zippo lighter just to tell what colors they're looking at.

I've been carrying the TIP for a while and have used it extensively. Great light but there are some cons. The exposed usb port screwed me once by getting wet so I got a new one. Another con with my old and new TIP as well as the one I got for my father is the body screws next to the attachment point come out way too easy. I even used locktite on my father's and my new one and still the screws backed out completely and are missing. The TIP 2 definitely seems better with the covered usb port and solid body minus the exposed screws holding the switch plate down. Going to give the TIP 2 a shot.

@Yaotl-1 Жыл бұрын
@@faizalrefendi3323 That's exactly where the screws would back out on the first version. Maybe the switch plate is the culprit and the screws backed out? Try taking it off to see if there's a gasket that's allowing the water in. Put a thin coat of silicone there and try using red locktite for the screws. Ended up losing mine and never got another so I can't take it apart to help pinpoint your problem

Ben, I'm still using the 2 Lumintop Tools that you reviewed a while back. I have one in aluminum and one in copper. I use the crap out of them both and they're holding up just fine BUT the pocket clips both broke within a few months SO I neeeeeed (must have) a new rechargeable pocket clip edc flashlight (okay, I just want one, I don't neeeeed one). I am a gadget guy, but I don't want insane gadgetry. It's gotta make sense like these Nitecores. Something in the 400-1000 lumens area maybe. So my question is, who else besides Nitecore makes a cute little high-powered rechargeable keychain light?

The price seems too high for a keychain light. Spending $25-$30 for a nitecore tip wasn't too bad, but a lot of people can't justify $45-$50 for a keychain light. I think Nitecore lost sight of what the Tip was originally designed for.

I like it except for the magnetic retention and you can’t replace the batteries... I hate not being able to replace batteries.
@ArvinG5 жыл бұрын
Why would you need to change batteries if its rechargeable? Its not like the battery is going to go bad too soon. I had mine since release and the battery still good as new. If it does go bad then you can still easily replace it via soldering.
@cdawson1986005 жыл бұрын
A G I like to be able to service thing I buy myself and I don’t like non-replaceable batteries that are built into devices because those internal batteries will eventually reach their charge cycle life and not hold a charge anymore. For the price they’re charging you should be able to replace the battery without having to find a battery that will fit and solder a new one in.
@ArvinG5 жыл бұрын
@@cdawson198600 Yeah I agree, I'm pretty sure they can either make a proprietary connector or battery like those in old nokia phones, gopro or chinese smart watch but there's no market for it in keychain flashlight, its more practical to use standard batteries. Unlike the chinese smartwatch which all uses the same battery size, keychain flashlight on the other hand are very few and has variety of battery form factor. Maybe if more keychain flashlight are release in the future then maybe well see proprietary battery that will become a standard for keychain flashlight.

Yea I agree, it’s cause so many people want “the brightest” and don’t give two thoughts to the quality of light... hopefully the market will change and we’ll get more high quality lights instead of pure brightness measured by a machine.
@randomescu5 жыл бұрын
When you need a flashlight for work you want cool whight light. Probably neutral or warm is better suited for fishing, hicking, hunting, i dont know, i dont do that. Industrial environement is often dark pained, metal and concrete are better illuminated by cool white imho.
@travispratt63275 жыл бұрын
cristi nel I hate cool white, it strains my eyes, even at work (I work construction). It’s not that I want warm necessarily, I just want closest to sunlight as possible, and that’s around 4-5k, these blue lights are only blue because it renders brighter in testing, and does look brighter but a neural light you can determine features and identify things better, which is the whole purpose of a flashlight. Incandescent is too warm, regular led is too cool, high cri leds are awesome and look like you’re using a mini mirror directing a beam of sunlight.
@travispratt63275 жыл бұрын
cristi nel Oh also as I understand it it’s not just tint, high cri means it can reproduce colors evenly, idk if just tint does that. Also why would you ever want something to look different in your flashlight than it does in sunlight? Sunlight is what we’re evolved to see with, it’s a perfect light that contains all colors evenly, ever notice how you can be inside a well lit room and look at something then take it outside in the sunlight and notice more detail and get a better sense of depth and everything? That’s what high cri is trying to achieve. Just like the op hinted, I’m guessing pretty soon we will have perfect leds that accurately recreate sunlight, and anything outside that people will consider outdated and undesirable technology.
